Patent number: 7721679Abstract: An efficient high-temperature water vapor generator includes a combustion chamber and a surrounding structure, wherein a cavity is located therebetween. Water is pumped into the cavity at a location near a first end of the combustion chamber. Water is removed from the cavity at a location near a second end of the combustion chamber, opposite the first end. The water removed from the cavity is injected into the combustion chamber at a location near the first end. Fuel and air are also introduced into the combustion chamber at the first end. The fuel and air are ignited near the first end of the combustion chamber, thereby creating high-temperature water vapor, and pre-heating the water in the cavity surrounding the combustion chamber.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2005Date of Patent: May 25, 2010Assignee: Goodfield Energy CorporationInventor: Aldon R. Patent number: 7383790Abstract: A statistical process control system employs a consistent soot blowing operation for a heat exchange section of, for example, a fuel burning boiler, collects heat absorption data for the heat exchange section and analyzes the distribution of the heat absorption data as well as various parameters of the heat absorption distribution to readjust the soot blowing operation. The statistical process control system may set a desired lower heat absorption limit and a desired upper heat absorption limit and compare them, respectively, with an actual lower heat absorption limit and an actual upper heat absorption limit to determine the readjustment to be made to the soot blowing operation. Alternatively, the statistical process control system may be used to determine permanent slagging of the heat exchange section.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2005Date of Patent: June 10, 2008Assignee: Emerson Process Management Power & Water Solutions, Inc.Inventors: Peter N. Patent number: 7363882Abstract: A condensation removal apparatus is disclosed. The condensation removal apparatus is used with a hot water heater wherein the hot water heater produces a fuel exhaust. The fuel exhaust from the hot water heater is provided to a draft inducer through an inlet which includes a thermally conductive plate having a hole through which the fuel exhaust flows. The draft inducer mixes ambient air with the fuel exhaust and reduces the temperature of the mixture as compared to the fuel exhaust. The mixture is directed to an outlet of the draft inducer and through piping into another environment. As the mixture cools, condensation forms within the piping. The condensation drips back down through the draft inducer. The condensation is then directed onto the thermally conductive plate. Since the thermally conductive plate maintains a high temperature, the condensation is turned from a liquid form into a gaseous form and is directed back through the draft inducer to the outlet.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2005Date of Patent: April 29, 2008Assignee: Comair Rotron, Inc.Inventors: Fred A. Patent number: 7360507Abstract: An energy saving apparatus is described. The energy saving apparatus is attached to a standard gas-powered water heater. All gas-powered water heaters typically have an air vent which vents hot air from the water heater. The apparatus takes advantage of this fact by routing a cold water inlet line into a heating coil wrapped around the air vent, with the heating coil eventually being connected to an outlet water line that then enters the hot water heater. The heating coil is merely a water line located in between the cold water inlet line and the outlet water line that is wrapped around the air vent many times. The heat from the air vent will transfer some of its heat to the water circulating within the heating coil, causing the hot water heater to utilize this otherwise wasted energy and subsequently causing the hot water heater to need less energy to heat the water within the hot water heater.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2005Date of Patent: April 22, 2008Inventor: Mearl G. Patent number: 7351057Abstract: The process chamber of a vertical furnace is provided with a closure, or door, comprising an upper and a lower door plate. The upper door plate has a gas exhaust opening proximate its center, thereby allowing for a symmetrical flow of process gases through the process chamber and into the gas exhaust opening. The upper door plate is spaced from the lower door plate to form a sealing chamber, which is purged with inert gas. Optionally, both the gas exhaust opening and the sealing chamber empty into a gas exhaust channel formed inside the upper door plate. The gas exhaust channel leads to an exhaust which exhausts gases from the furnace and separates the flow path of corrosive process gases from surfaces of the lower door plate, which may be formed of relatively easily-corroded metal.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2005Date of Patent: April 1, 2008Assignee: ASM International N.V.Inventors: Bart Berenbak, Chris G.
