  • Patent number: 9967819
Abstract: A method is presented for controlling timers in a wireless communication system. When an idle mode signaling reduction (ISR) function of a user equipment (UE) is activated in the UE, a periodic tracking area update (P-TAU) timer and a periodic routing area update (P-RAU) timer are started. The P-TAU timer and the P-RAU timer run in the UE for updating a Mobility Management Entity (MME) and a Serving General packet radio service Support Node (SGSN) independently. The ISR function is activated when an update message activating the ISR function is received by the UE. When the P-TAU timer expires and the UE cannot initiate a tracking area update (TAU) procedure as a mobility management backoff (MM-BO) timer is running, a deactivate ISR timer corresponding to a first type network is started. The MM-BO timer is a timer configured to start when a MM-BO time value is received in the UE.

  • Patent number: 9886273
Abstract: An instruction execution processor has an input to receive instructions associated with maintaining a queue for storing packet identifiers (IDs) corresponding to packets being processed by a network device. A memory coupled to the instruction execution processor is for storing instructions received at the input of the instruction execution processor and not executed by the instruction execution processor. An instruction feedback processor is coupled to the instruction execution processor. The instruction feedback processor is configured to, in response to receiving an output from the instruction execution processor, identify one or more instructions, stored in the memory, that correspond to a new packet ID at the head of the queue, and feed back, to the input of the instruction execution processor, the one or more identified instructions.

  • Patent number: 9882705
Abstract: A synchronous frame reception unit receives a synchronous frame describing a reference value for time synchronization with a management apparatus which is transmitted repeatedly from the management apparatus. A propagation delay computation unit computes, each time when the synchronous frame is received, a propagation delay of the synchronous frame. A propagation delay time period computation unit computes, each time when the propagation delay is computed, a propagation delay time period by adding a target value of a synchronous accuracy to the propagation delay. A propagation delays computation unit operates a logical OR operation of M pieces of propagation delay time periods computed for M pieces of synchronous frames which precede a latest synchronous frame.

  • Patent number: 9854477
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a handoff between technologies are disclosed. An intra-technology handoff occurs where the same integrated chassis handles the session for the different access technologies. In an intra-technology handoff, the same IP address and the session can be maintained through the handoff. The mobile node can undergo a handoff without issuing a registration request in some embodiments. An inter-technology handoff occurs from one integrated chassis to another integrated chassis. The integrated chassis can preserve session and context information in a session manager and in a handoff from one access technology to another the same session manager can be chosen with the session and context information remaining intact even though the access technology has changed. The integrated chassis can provide an access technology handoff where the core network does not notice any change and applications running on or delivered to the mobile node are not effected.

  • Patent number: 9843960
Abstract: An invention relates to methods for transmitting a buffer status report (BSR) in a mobile communication system, more particularly to the definition of rules for triggering, generating and transmitting BSRs. The invention also relates to a data transmission method utilizing new rules to decide data of which radio bearers is transmitted within a given transmission time interval. Moreover, the invention relates to scheduling method for radio resources that is taking into account additional scheduling-relevant information from the buffer status reporting and/or data transmission method. To avoid unnecessary grants from the network and to suggest an advanced handling of data transmissions the invention suggests a buffer status reporting and data transmission schemes that take into account the scheduling mode of data of radio bearers pending for transmission to decide whether to report on it in a buffer status report, respectively, whether to multiplex the data to a transport block for transmission.

  • Patent number: 9820250
Abstract: Technology is discussed for mitigating interference in a wireless communication environment where adjacent cells can have asynchronous Time Division Duplexing configurations. Measurements can be taken at an illuminated evolved Node B (eNodeB) of DownLink (DL) transmissions from a transmit eNodeB. These measurements can be relayed to the transmit eNodeB over a backhaul link and used to make scheduling, transmission power, and/or beam forming decisions to reduce the potential for DL interference. To reduce UpLink (UL) interference, sub-frame specific measurements can be requested by a transmit eNodeB of a User Equipment (UE) that would receive DL transmission from the transmit eNodeB to detect interference from any UEs performing UL transmission to an adjacent eNodeB. The interference measurements can be used by the transmit eNodeB to make scheduling determinations to mitigate the interference.

  • Patent number: 9813315
Abstract: System and techniques are described for time correlated playback of traffic patterns between nodes in a network. Node statistics of data transfers between nodes are received in a control point, wherein the node statistics include a time stamp (tn) according to time at the control point of when a request statistics message was sent to each node, a node timestamp (ta) according to time at each node of when the message was received in the node, and a first delta between tn and ta that is used to determine a second delta which adjusts the node statistics. The node statistics adjusted according to the second delta are stored in a statistics database at the control point. A time stepping mechanism is used to repeatedly access the node statistics from the statistics database at a predetermined rate for playback presentation beginning from a specified start time to a specified end time.

  • Patent number: 9813167
Abstract: A system and method for minimizing or preventing interference between wireless networks is disclosed. A network hub broadcasts a beacon signal within repeating beacon periods. The position of the beacon signal shifts within each beacon period based upon a predetermined pseudo-random sequence. The beacon signal includes data identifying the current beacon shift sequence and the current phase of the sequence. Neighboring hubs independently or jointly determine and broadcast their own beacon shift sequences and phases for their respective networks from a predetermined list. Nodes connected with the network hubs are assigned allocation intervals having a start time that is set relative to the beacon signal. The start time and duration of the allocation interval wraps around the beacon period if the allocation-interval would otherwise start or continue in a next beacon period.
