  • Patent number: 10268266
Abstract: A user may select or interact with objects in a scene using gaze tracking and movement tracking. In some examples, the scene may comprise a virtual reality scene or a mixed reality scene. A user may move an input object in an environment and be facing in a direction towards the movement of the input object. A computing device may use sensors to obtain movement data corresponding to the movement of the input object, and gaze tracking data including to a location of eyes of the user. One or more modules of the computing device may use the movement data and gaze tracking data to determine a three-dimensional selection space in the scene. In some examples, objects included in the three-dimensional selection space may be selected or otherwise interacted with.

  • Patent number: 10255881
Abstract: A display calibration system determines compensation factors for each subpixel in an electronic display to compensate for non-uniformity due to aging of the electronic display. The system takes a first measurement of the display at an input setting, instructs the display to operate an input sequence, and takes a second measurement of the display at the same input setting. The system determines one or more compensation factors for each subpixel of the electronic display based on the first measurement, the second measurement, and one or more previous characterizations of a similar subpixel on a similar display. A compensation matrix may be stored in memory on an HMD that houses the electronic display, or it may be stored in the cloud and accessed when the display is operating.

  • Patent number: 10254858
Abstract: The electronic devices described herein are configured to enhance user experience associated with using a pen on the touchscreens of the electronic devices. Contact of a pen on the touch screen is detected by a persistent, pen-aware shell that occupies some or all of the touch screen user interface throughout operation of the electronic device. Detected pen contact with the touch screen is captured/collected as pen input and used to perform a function of the electronic device or shared with an application such that the application may perform a function based on the pen input. A performed function or application with which to share the pen in put is selected by a user, automatically by an operating system, or a combination of the two. Automatic capture of pen input by the persistent, pen-aware shell provides an intuitive way of making use of pen/touch screen capability of an electronic device.
