Patent number: 5274754Abstract: A method and apparatus for anti-aliasing vectors, arcs and circles comprising a plurality of pixels on a video display. The distance, d, of each pixel from the centerline of a curve is computed using a plurality of linearly dependent equations. The intensity of each pixel is set as a function of the magnitude of the distance, d, of the pixel from the centerline of the curve. In some cases, the distance, d, is compared with ranges of distances and the intensity of the pixel set according to the range within which the pixel is located. In other cases, the intensity of the pixel is simply inversely proportional to its distance, d, from the centerline.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1986Date of Patent: December 28, 1993Assignee: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.Inventor: Adrian Sfarti

Patent number: 5274755Abstract: An apparatus for implementing, in hardware, circuitry for adding a raster offset to screen coordinates in a graphics display subsystem for the purpose of displaying the image in a window which may be moved by a user to an arbitrary position on a screen display. Specifically, a pair of raster offsets, one for X coordinates and one for Y coordinates, are stored in X and Y raster offset registers. The X and Y raster offsets correspond to the offset of an active window from the origin of the screen display. These offsets are added to each coordinate which is to be displayed within the active window in a manner which does not result in any additional overhead.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 1989Date of Patent: December 28, 1993Assignee: Sun Microsystems, Inc.Inventors: Curtis Priem, Chris Malachowsky

Patent number: 5224207Abstract: A technique for pre-programming a reproduction machine for a plurality of complex jobs involving a variety of machine features and requirements at a computer console remote from the reproduction machine operator console and touch sensitive screen display. In particular, a remote computer console compatible with the reproduction machine control, manifests a simulation of a plurality of pre-programming slots and machine features for each slot that simulate a plurality of features and subfeatures of job requirements for the machine. The plurality of selected features for each pre-programmed job slot are automatically stored in the selected pre-programming slots on a removable media such as a floppy disk. The floppy disk can be inserted into the reproduction machine to automatically pre-program the machine for a plurality of discrete job runs without any additional operator initiative.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1988Date of Patent: June 29, 1993Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Joseph L. Patent number: 5204943Abstract: An image forming apparatus is capable of starting image reconstruction simultaneously with the start of scan. A pipe-line system image forming apparatus having an intermediate buffer between a date acquition device and an image reconstruction device, and the apparatus is characterized in that there is provided a path for supplying data from the data acquisition device directly to the image reconstruction device, whereby the first scan data is sent also to the image reconstruction device simultaneously with sending data to the intermediate buffer so as to immediately start image reconstruction according to the scan data.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1990Date of Patent: April 20, 1993Assignee: Yokogawa Medical Systems, LimitedInventors: Yoshihiko Watanabe, Kenjiro Fujita, Yasuro Takiura

Patent number: 5182795Abstract: A device including a screen memory (53) for storing the data relating to the points of a screen on which the curve is to be drawn. A point processor (21) modifies the data stored in the screen memory (53) at the positions of said screen memory corresponding to the points of the curve to be drawn. An address processor (20) adapted to control the access to the screen memory (53), the operation of the processor (21) and the transfers of data between the point processor (21) and the screen memory (53) so as to ensure the modification of its content as a function of the line to be drawn. A CROM memory (22) containing instructions relating to the changing of the reference of U, V relative coordinates of each octant change and instructions relating to the point by point drawings of portions of curves contained in each of the octants covered by the arc of a curve to be drawn.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1988Date of Patent: January 26, 1993Assignee: Texas Instruments IncorporatedInventors: Frederic Boutaud, Gerard Chauvel

Patent number: 5146551Abstract: A method for generating a circular or elliptic arc on a digital display, especially adapted for use in a scan conversion painting system. A modified DDA method has been provided, whereby each of the intersections between scan lines and curves concerned is represented by a single point.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1986Date of Patent: September 8, 1992Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Atsushi Miyazawa

Patent number: 5136689Abstract: A determination as to whether the linear change in a dependent variable Y=(Dy/Dx)*X resulting from an ith step change of magnitude dx in an independent variable X would be better approximated by a change m*dy or a change (m+1)*dy in the dependent variable, is made by(a) setting m equal to floor (Dy/abs(Dx)), setting r equal to (Dy/abs(Dx))-m, setting DirX equal to Dx/abs)Dx), and setting Er equal to r-0.5; and(b) for each value of i in the range from 1 to (Dx/dx)-1, determining whether Er is less than 0 and, if so, setting Er equal to Er+r, X equal to X+DirX*dx and y equal to Y+m*dy, and otherwise setting Er equal to Er+r-1, X equal to X+DirX*dx and Y equal to Y+(m+1)*dy.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1989Date of Patent: August 4, 1992Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.Inventor: William G. Patent number: 5115404Abstract: A sequence of n sample values occurring during a recording interval is processed by determining which of the sample values is the smallest and which of them is the largest. The smallest sample value is loaded into one of first and second memory portions in dependence upon whether the smallest value occurred before or after the largest sample value, and the largest sample value is loaded into the other of the first and second memory portions. In this fashion, the order of the smallest and largest sample values is preserved.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1987Date of Patent: May 19, 1992Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.Inventors: Pei-hwa Lo, Tran Thong

Patent number: 4847791Abstract: A system to process employee and job data, in a shop having a number of mechanic employees and a number of machines, including at least a first employee-input station, a second timekeeping station, and a third management station. A printer and a computer at the second station includes a program in the computer calculating from employee clocking of time and jobs the employee hours, the time spent on each job, accumulated job hours, and percentages of completions of jobs. Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) displays and keyboards are at each station. The keyboards at the first and third stations being special purpose keyboards primarily concerning employee clock-in and clock-out on each job and several cost-class keys that can be associated with various jobs.
