Abstract: A joist hanger has a shroud with a rear wall and side walls with aligned openings for receiving the legs of a U-shaped pin. A jack screw, straddled by the legs, or a simple support plate rests on the pin to support a joist end. An L angle piece is welded or hinged to the rear wall. The level of the joist can be changed by the jack screw, and/or by turning a threaded hinge bolt, permitting the shroud to ride up or down on the bolt.
