Patent number: 4675835Abstract: In order to compensate reproduction errors in electroacoustic transducers (W), for example electrodynamic loud-speakers, microphones and pickup systems, computer circuits are used. In a digital computer circuit, the electrical input signals (U.sub.1 ) are converted into altered output signals (U.sub.2) according to the inherent properties of the transducer (W), stored in a memory (PROM), with the aid of a programme, which is likewise stored. When analogue computer circuits are used, the complex inherent response of the converter (W) in respect of the amplitude/frequency response and phase/frequency response is approximated mathematically in a closed, inverse form, and the resulting function is simulated with the aid of integrators (B), summing elements (S), inverters (I) and adjusting members (P).Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 1984Date of Patent: June 23, 1987Inventor: Peter Pfleiderer

Patent number: 4675830Abstract: A method for producing scaleable contour data that is capable of providing: (1) bit-map font data at any resolution and at any point size and, (2) grid aligned contours for output to contour driven devices such as, pen plotters and numerically controlled machines, is disclosed. The method "stretches" and "compresses" character contours to bring specified contour points ("Skeletal Points") into proper alignment with the "bit-map grid". The mathematical basis for the method is one of (1) breaking the character contour into segments (between a pair of Skeletal Points), (2) offsetting all coordinates in the segment to bring the first Skeletal Point to align with the grid, and finally, (3) linear scaling of the segment with a scale factor which brings the second Skeletal Point to align with the grid.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1984Date of Patent: June 23, 1987Assignee: Compugraphic CorporationInventor: Thomas B. Patent number: 4674061Abstract: The method and the device based on it for the automatic calibration of measuring and indicating appliances used for the measurement and indication of the oxygen partial pressure in connection with polarographic sensors provide that a variable polarization voltage supplied by a polarization voltage generator (2), controlled by a central processor (4), is applied to a polarographic sensor (1). The resulting measuring signals of the sensor (1), after analog-digital conversion, are stored in a read-write memory (8). By comparing these with the desired current values stored in a read-only memory (7) the central processor (4) determines the theoretical residual current deviation from the zero value, which in turn is stored. The operating point is fixed at the point of the lowest slope within the operating range of the characteristic line.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1982Date of Patent: June 16, 1987Assignee: Hellige GmbHInventors: Jorg Diskowski, Wolfgang Jeppel, Hartmut Moisel, Hans P. Patent number: 4663727Abstract: An ultrasonic inspection system for inspecting areas of tubular members and providing a display of any internal flaws therein. In order to operate in a confined work space a probe containing ultrasonic transducers is provided together with a rotational and axial drive scanner which is linked to a remotely controlled manipulator. The scanner uses a wand supporting the probe at the upper end thereof. The manipulator locates the probe and scanner in alignment with the tube to be inspected. A stepping motor on the scanner drives the wand and the probe axially to a location just above the area to be inspected. A second stepping motor rotates the wand to enable the probe to perform a circumferential scan. The axial stepping motor then indexes the wand towards the lower edge of the area and another circumferential scan occurs. The indexing and circumferential scanning proceeds until the entire area is scanned.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 1984Date of Patent: May 5, 1987Assignee: Rochester Gas & Electric Corp.Inventors: Michael J. Patent number: 4661920Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically adjusting the zero point of a weighing machine includes producing, in the form of a digital value, an initial zero-point correction value when the weighing machine is free of a load. The difference value between an unloaded weight value, which is produced by the unloaded weighing machine, and a value obtained by converting the digital value into an analog value, is calculated. The difference value is compared with a preset value, and digital values are sequentially converted in accordance with the result of the comparison operation to render the difference value equal, or nearly equal, to the preset value.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1984Date of Patent: April 28, 1987Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Ishida Koki SeisakushoInventor: Setsuo Haze

Patent number: 4658366Abstract: For accurate completion of pre-printed forms on computer systems having printers with different characters-per-inch (CPI) printing capabilities, the desired data print locations of blank fields along respective print lines of a form are defined independently of CPI density, as distances from a reference location on the form. The distances are determined by positioning a user-selected reference mark on a print carrier (of a printer) at the beginning of each field. Data is then accurately printed in each field at a selected CPI density by converting the distances to printable character locations at the selected density and printing corresponding data at each of the determined locations.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1984Date of Patent: April 14, 1987Inventor: David R. Patent number: 4656595Abstract: A method and device for monitoring large structures so as to detect defects, e.g. cracks. An electric current is supplied to a steel structure which is equipped with contact points between which are measured voltage drops caused by the impressed current. A relatively large number of fixed contact points are used all over the area which is to be monitored. The voltage drops are measured between selected pairs of contact points and these voltage drops are compared with corresponding voltage drops that have been measured previously in the same manner when the structure was in an initial condition, preferably without any defects. The monitoring can this be performed by means of robust and simple devices which are relatively impervious to rough environments.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1983Date of Patent: April 7, 1987Assignee: Sentralinstitutt for Industriell ForskningInventor: Harek Hognestad
