Patent number: 9675758Abstract: The present invention concerns an injection device with a housing adapted to receive a syringe having a discharge nozzle, the housing having an indicator opening. There is a trigger and a forward drive arranged to act upon the syringe on actuation of the trigger to advance the syringe from a retracted position to an extended position thereby discharging the contents of the syringe through the discharge nozzle. A support member is in contacting juxtaposition with the housing and a return drive is supported by the support member and arranged to act upon the syringe after the contents of the syringe has been discharged so that the syringe can be withdrawn from the extended position to the retracted position. Advantageously, the support member is arranged in the housing so that the second drive does not obscure an inspection of the contents of the syringe through the indicator opening. Hence, it can be clearly determined whether the contents of the syringe have been expelled from the syringe.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2005Date of Patent: June 13, 2017Assignee: Cilag gmBh InternationalInventors: David Johnston, Rosemary Habeshaw, Nigel Harrison

Patent number: 9642991Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for performing a medical procedure within a patient's body that involves a thoracic duct including an ostium communicating with the patient's venous system. A distal end of a catheter is introduced through the patient's venous system into a body lumen adjacent the ostium of the thoracic duct. An expandable member on the distal end of the tubular may be expanded adjacent the ostium, e.g., within the body lumen or the thoracic duct itself, and used to isolate the thoracic duct from the body lumen, whereupon a medical procedure may be performed via the thoracic duct. For example, lymphatic fluid may be removed from the thoracic duct through a lumen of the tubular member and/or one or more agents may be introduced into the thoracic duct through the tubular member.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2013Date of Patent: May 9, 2017Assignee: LXS, LLCInventors: Christian S. Patent number: 9572700Abstract: Weight loss can be promoted by introducing a microcatheter into the mid segment or distal portion of a human subject's left gastric artery and delivering, via the microcatheter, a plurality of particles with sizes between 300 and 500 ?m into the distal portion of the subject's left gastric artery. The particles cause endovascular flow reduction or interruption in the distal portion of the subject's left gastric artery. The reduced or interrupted blood flow decreases the production of the hormone ghrelin, which reduces the subject's appetite, thereby promoting weight loss.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2013Date of Patent: February 21, 2017Assignee: Endobar Solutions LLCInventors: Nickolas Kipshidze, Martin B. Patent number: 9533130Abstract: A syringe includes a sleeve and a pressure vessel with high pressure fluid therein. The sleeve further comprises a sleeve piston. As the high pressure vessel contacts the sleeve piston, and a bump on the sleeve piston destroys the airtight status of the high pressure vessel. While the seal of the high pressure vessel is removed, the compressed fluid flows into the sleeve through the opening of the high pressure vessel and the hole of the sleeve piston. When the closed end of the sleeve moves closer to the closed end of the sleeve piston, the fluid in the sleeve is pressed and flows out of the sleeve through the sleeve hole of the sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2014Date of Patent: January 3, 2017Assignee: TAIWAN BIOMATERIAL CO., LTD.Inventors: Chun-Jen Liao, Wen-Hsi Wang, Yu-Ming Wang, Yu-Chung Chang, Hsin-Yu Wu, Ping-Chuan Chen

Patent number: 9533121Abstract: Various embodiments provide systems and methods for controlling a catheter with a catheter positioning device by using a remote controller and a guidewire control mechanism that may be used to draw a guidewire through a catheter coupled with the catheter positioning system. As the catheter is advanced over the guidewire by the catheter positioning device, the guidewire control mechanism may draw the guidewire away, such as collecting any slack on the guidewire. In further embodiments, the guidewire control mechanism may match the speed at which the guidewire is drawn to the speed at which the catheter advances and thereby maintain the position of the guidewire relative to the patient.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2013Date of Patent: January 3, 2017Assignee: Catheter Precision, Inc.Inventors: Robert Pacheco, Steve Foley
