Abstract: An asset management system is presented. The management system includes monitoring devices able to provide asset data across firewalls without requiring reconfiguration of the firewalls. The asset data pass through a forwarding service that instantiates a virtual tunnel comprising a communication channel between the monitoring devices and remote asset management engines. The asset management engines can also be located behind firewalls. As the management engines aggregate asset data, the engines can present one or more alerts via a management interface.
Abstract: Systems and methods relating to fragmenting content based on metadata are disclosed. In one embodiment, metadata is obtained from data that is accessible from an interface. A content descriptor, based on at least a portion of the metadata, may be utilized to determine fragment size. The content descriptor value may be derived from multiple forms of metadata, such as for example, genre, sub-genre, presence of live media, and combinations thereof. The fragments may be either virtual or physically discrete segments or files. In one aspect, the value may be the sole basis for determining the fragment lengths. In another aspect of the embodiment, the division of the content is conducted such that each resultant fragment comprises a single frame type.
Abstract: Identifying a questionable network address from a network communication. In an embodiment, a network device receives an incoming or outgoing connection request, a web page, an email, or other network communication. An evaluation module evaluates the network communication for a corresponding network address, which may be for the source or destination of the network communication. The network address generally includes an IP address, which may be obtained from the payload section of a network packet. The evaluation module determines one or more properties of the network communication, such as time of day, content type, directionality, or the like. The evaluation module then determines whether the properties match or are otherwise allowed based on properties specified in the white list in association with the IP address.
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments that provide an automated dispatching framework for global networks. Monitoring services in private networks monitor networking devices in the private networks. Events are reported by the monitoring services by storing the events in a queue in a global network. A network support management service retrieves the status updates from the queue. Support actions are implemented by the network support management service based at least in part on the status updates.

Abstract: A Web service synchronization protocol is provided that sets forth the metadata and messaging by which endpoints roam, share and synchronize common information with one another in a multi-master networked computing ecosystem. A general SOAP-based protocol is defined for synchronizing data between two endpoints where one or more of the endpoints supports a Web service. Defining messaging for knowledge-based transfers using XML Web services, the protocol allows devices, services and applications to synchronize through firewalls, allows for flexibility by allowing any common set or subset of information across endpoints and allows for extensibility by not prescribing the schema of the actual data being synchronized at the endpoints.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for managing resource access in distributed computing environments. A computing device can host a local resource such as a file or application and an application for managing or controlling resource access. The user device can communicate with a remote device that hosts a remote resource, which may be similar to the local resource. If a resource access request is detected at the user device, the user device can identify resources including a local resource and/or a remote resource that can provide functionality associated with the request. The user device can determine if the local resource, the remote resource, and/or a combination thereof is to be accessed to provide the requested access. This determination can be made before or during the access and can be based upon settings, preferences, input, network traffic, and/or other considerations determined at the user device and/or other devices.
Abstract: A data processing apparatus connected to an output apparatus and a service providing apparatus via a network, includes a destination setting storing unit that stores a setting of the destination for sending the output data; an output request accepting unit that accepts an output request of the output data from a user; and a sending control unit that controls to send the output data to the destination in accordance with the determined setting of the destination, wherein when the destination of the output data is the service providing apparatus, the sending control unit sends the output data to the service providing apparatus after having a log-in requesting unit perform a log-in to the service providing apparatus in accordance with the determined setting of the destination.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wireless communication system and a method for managing a cache server in the wireless communication system, the invention includes a step for checking a regional cache server to transmit contents when a DNS (Domain Name System) request a message for receiving contents acquired from a terminal, and a step for transmitting the contents by the cache server according to a contents request message received from the terminal. These steps can prevent the same data from being transmitted several times through a wireless communication network. Therefore, network usage associated with the service is reduced, and the network can be used more efficiently.

Abstract: Features are disclosed for determining which content item or items are likely to be requested by a particular user or device, or by a group of users or devices. The determined content items may be obtained independently of a request from the users or devices, and substantially current versions of the content items may be maintained at a server system, such as an intermediary system. Visual representations of the content items may be generated to reduce processing requirements at a user device. When the content items are determined to be likely to be requested by a particular user, a predicted time may also be determined, and the visual representations may be generated such that they are available at the predicted time.

Abstract: A registration and connection method for a car apparatus and a mobile apparatus includes registering a car apparatus, registering a third mobile apparatus, and connecting the car apparatus to the third mobile apparatus. By the method, the functions of the mobile apparatus can be used freely, and the car apparatus is managed by an agency. After pairing the two apparatuses, the functions of the car apparatus and the mobile apparatus can be combined, thereby setting up a connection channel among the agency, the car apparatus and the mobile apparatus that pairs with the car apparatus.
Abstract: A content-acquisition request is sent to a centralized management service computer via a computer network. The content-acquisition request may query the centralized management service computer for a recommended content source to provide a first digital content item. If a response to the content-acquisition request is received via the computer network and identifies a recommended peer computer of a peer-to-peer network as the recommended content source, a request to download the first digital content item is sent to the recommended peer computer via the computer network. If a response to the content-acquisition request is not received, a fallback request to download the first digital content item is automatically sent to a content-delivery network computer via the computer network.
