  • Patent number: 6530757
Abstract: An electric-motor-driven housing for a feed pump (1), in particular for a feeding device for fuel, is proposed in which on the commutator side there is a connection cap (5) for the electrical connection contacts (3, 4) and pump inlets and/or outlets (6). The connection cap (5) comprises an electrically conductive plastic, and a connection to a ground potential can be established via an electrically conductive connection. The surface resistance of the connection cap (5) is designed such that a diversion of electrostatic discharge to the ground potential, with attendant shielding from electromagnetic radiation, ensues, and a predeterminable short-circuit current between the electrical connection contacts (3, 4) located directly on the connection cap (5) is not exceeded.

  • Patent number: 6520937
Abstract: A catheter for use in vasculature or other body lumen includes a fluid injection bypass tube, leading to a elastically compressible pump bulb. Upon compression of the pump bulb, fluid such as contrast solution is injected through a one-way valve, into the catheter manifold lumen, and ultimately to the distal end of the catheter lumen, and into the patient vasculature. The one-way valve between the pump bulb and the catheter lumen has a threshold pressure to prevent unintended aspiration of fluid from the pump bulb during aspiration of fluid from the catheter itself.

  • Patent number: 6519485
Abstract: A system for assessing organ function couples light emitters into an optical fiber delivery assembly of which the tip extends to or into an internal organ and illuminates tissue; the device senses temperature at the tip, and a collection fiber collects light scattered, reflected or emitted by the surrounding tissue. Control and processing modules drive the laser diodes and process return spectral signals, e.g., to assess metabolic activity and detect onset of shock. A prototype uses four laser diodes with peaks at 735, 760, 805 and 890 nm, with a front end splitter providing a reference beam to a photo detector for normalizing detection output and correcting the signal samples. The device may include a plurality of laser diodes and may select subsets of the sources to tailor spectral illumination to different target enzymes, metabolites or other compounds.

  • Patent number: 6508635
Abstract: A reciprocating compressor includes a piston reciprocating within a cylinder to compress a fluid. The compressed fluid is discharged through a discharge pipe which is susceptible to being vibrated, e.g., by the operation of a motor of the compressor. To attenuate such vibrations, an anti-vibration coil spring is mounted to the discharge pipe, with the discharge pipe passing through helical turns of the spring. The helical turns define respective outer diameters which are non-uniform along the length of the spring.

  • Patent number: 6503061
Abstract: A heat dissipating and power cutting-off device of a pump has a heat dissipating ceramics ring fitted in a plastic member to form watertight connection in between to prevent water from flowing to a motor. The plastic member has a pivotal hole for a main blade wheel connected to a shaft of the motor, and for a shaft seal tightly fitted in same and said ceramics ring. • Patent number: 6494693
Abstract: An improved peristaltic pump using a pumptube comprising a single tube of a relatively rigid and hard fluoroplastic material, preferably relatively rigid and hard polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and a roller strap located between the pressure rollers of the peristaltic pump and the pumptube, is provided. The roller strap prevents direct contact between the pressure rollers of the peristaltic pump and the pumping section of the pumptube. The pumping section of the pumptube is formed or shaped into a flattened, oval-like shape which approximately conforms to the pumptube passageway in the peristaltic pump. The pressure rollers contact the roller strap and then compress the flattened side of the pumptube and, thereby, effecting transport or pumping of the fluid. The use of the strap prevents excessive tube expansion at the output back-pressure, thereby increasing the lifetime of the pumptube.
