  • Patent number: 5771823
Abstract: A method and apparatus retrofitted to a multiple-intertube pulverized-coal burner to reduce NO.sub.x emissions of roof fired boilers. An internal two stage process controls the amount of secondary air which flows to the burner. The first stage includes a secondary air damper and air flow station to regulate the amount of air which flows into a windbox of the burner. A baffle plate assembly which includes a plurality of baffle plates further limits the amount of air which flows to the core of the burner for combustion of the fuel. The baffle plates create a pressure drop within the windbox which forces or diverts a quantity of air to the periphery of the burner. The second stage includes an outlet formed in the hot primary air duct, an air plenum which communicates therewith, and a plurality of interjectory air ports which correspond with the burners in number and position along a front wall of the boiler and which communicate with the air plenum.

  • Patent number: 5771819
Abstract: A hearth particle bed incineration furnace is provided in which the hearth particles form a sloped layer bed which moves in the incinerating furnace without being fluidized. The furnace is structured so that the combustion gas is prevented from flowing upward through the inlet for the materials to be incinerated. The structure for preventing the backflow of the combustion gas includes a sidewall which is connected to the incinerated materials inlet, baffles and a member which restrains the upward backflow of combustion exhaust gas. This restraining member is made up of an air intake opening and the air introduced therein is heated through heat exchange with a combustion gas and introduced into the combustion chamber. This allows the amount of air to be introduced in the combustion chamber to be increased and the backflow of combustion exhaust gas to be reduced or eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5769008
Abstract: The low-emission swirling-type furnace is designed to burn organic fuel and it can be most advantegeously used for dust combustion.A low-emission swirling-type furnace, according to the invention, comprises a combustion chamber (1) with a prismatic dry-bottom hopper (5) having a slot mouth, and an undergrate blast inlet means (7) disposed thereunder. The furnace includes at least one burner (2) formed by at least a pair of ducts (2a,2b ) lying one above the other and intended for supplying the air-fuel mixture. The ducts (2a, 2b) are each provided with a device (3, 4) for controlling the "air/fuel" ratio, ensuring such a ratio between the amount of air and the amount of fuel in each of the ducts (2a,2b ) that for the overlying duct (2a), this ratio turns out to be invariably higher than for the underlying duct (2b).

  • Patent number: 5769534
Abstract: An illuminated display box includes one or more display sides. Each side includes identical panel support units connected to angled sidewalls of a bracket on the opposite sides of the display. Each support unit is an integrally extruded U-shaped plastic member, and includes an attachment leg and a panel support leg connected by a U-shaped base. The attachment leg has an edge slot extended over the angled sidewall and fixedly secured by a lanced portion of the angled sidewall. The support leg has an open slot to receive a dual panel unit including superimposed transparent panels between which a display poster is held. The panel units are formed of a flexible and optically clear plastic and have a width in excess of the distance between the slots of the two side panel support units. Insertion of the panel edges into the slots creates a curved panel unit. The display box may have a single display panel unit or a plurality of display panel units arranged to form a plurality of sides of the display box.

  • Patent number: 5746141
Abstract: A process of waste incineration, with heat recovery and reduced emissions of acid gases and particulate comprising a reduction of acid gases and particulate by mixing recirculating low temperature flue gases flowing out from the heat recovery section, with high temperature flue gases obtained from incineration. Said mixed flue gases are subjected, prior to heat recovery, to particulate separation. Moreover, the low temperature flue gases may be deacidified. Preferably, the reduction is enhanced by reacting the high temperature flue gases, mixed with a cold flue gas recirculation stream drawn downstream the heat recovery section, with an alkaline reagent, in order to eliminate the acidic gases. A waste incinerator is disclosed, which is combined with an acid gases and particulate removal plant, which is provided between the incinerator itself (2, 6) and the boiler (7).

  • Patent number: 5711235
Abstract: A conveyor for waste has a waste feed shaft which is laterally connected to a horizontally divided conveyor channel. A screw conveyor being drivable by a motor is located in the longitudinal direction of the conveyor channel. The conveyor channel opens into a housing, in particular into a pyrolysis reactor, which by way of example is operated in conjunction with a low-temperature carbonization combustion process. In order to easily eliminate blockages of the screw conveyor, a unit formed of the screw conveyor and the conveyor channel is disconnectably secured to the housing and is removable from the housing through the use of a traveling mounting. A method for inspecting the contents of a conveyor channel receiving waste and discharging into a housing, especially a pyrolysis reactor, includes disconnecting the conveyor channel from the housing, driving the conveyor channel away with a traveling mounting, and opening the conveyor channel.
