Patent number: 5806152Abstract: A latching fastener having cocking and triggering mechanisms is provided. The fastener has two flexible fastening latch arms each fixed at a proximal end of the arm and having a free distal end. The two arms are located relative to each other to cooperate in grasping a structure between them. A fastener cocking mechanism is connected to the fastening latch arms for retracting the distal ends of the arms when the cocking mechanism is activated, to thereby produce a latching gap between the distal ends of the arms. A trigger mechanism is located between the fastening latch arms such that a structure guided into the latching gap can activate the trigger, for deactivating the cocking mechanism, which in turn results in closing together of the distal ends of the fastening latch arms, to grasp the structure between them and latch the structure to the fastener.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1996Date of Patent: September 15, 1998Assignee: Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyInventors: Kazuhiro Saitou, Mark J. Patent number: 5579559Abstract: A clasp of the unfolding buckle type comprises a branch and an arm hinged at one of its ends to a first end of the branch. The branch has a lateral side face arranged opposite a lateral side face of the arm in a closed position of the clasp, and the clasp includes an elastically deformable element for jamming the clasp in the closed position. The elastically deformable element in the closed position of the clasp extends into a housing formed by a longitudinal hollow provided in the lateral side face of the branch and by a longitudinal hollow provided in the lateral side face of the arm.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1995Date of Patent: December 3, 1996Assignee: Gay Freres S. Patent number: 5572770Abstract: A self locking cord lock including a cage containing a passage through which a cord or cords can extend, a slide body movable within the cage between a locking position for retaining the cord or cords against movement in a predetermined first direction and a released position permitting such movement, and a spring yieldingly urging the slide body in that direction relative to the cage and toward locking position, with the slide body having a handle portion projecting in the opposite direction beyond the spring and to the exterior of the cage and which is adapted to be pulled by a user to move the slide body in that opposite direction to released position. The spring is preferably molded integrally with the slide body, having a first end attached to the slide body and a second free end bearing yieldingly against a shoulder on the cage. The spring arm may be bowed laterally through an opening in a wall of the cage and then back into the cage and into an opening formed in the slide body.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1995Date of Patent: November 12, 1996Inventor: Robert O. Patent number: 5570500Abstract: A clamp (1) serves for connecting webs (2) at the edges of form panels disposed in coplanar, side-by-side relation and has for this purpose two clamping jaws (4) urging these edge webs (2) together, each clamping jaw (4) having an 10 adjusting arm (5) which is at an angle thereto and is located at the jaw-end remote from the clamping point (4a). The adjusting arms (5) in turn have points for applying an actuating or adjusting element in the form of a wedge (9), these points of application on the two adjusting arms (5) suitably being combined to form a single point for applying the wedge (9). The wedge (9) can slide along between this point of application and the edge webs (2), suitably on the abutment (12) belonging to the clamp (1), and thereby can move the point of application and accordingly the adjusting arms (5) away form the lining skin (3) and thereby close the clamping jaws (4).Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1995Date of Patent: November 5, 1996Assignee: Paschal-Werk G. Patent number: 5551132Abstract: A shaft, having a slot formed therein offset from the shaft axis, receives the terminal end of a limb within the slot. The limb end has a pointed termination, and a bight. The slot has an arcuately formed portion, in which to nest the bight, and a depression in which to receive the pointed termination. More, the shaft has threading formed thereon, adjacent the slot, with the slot traversing the threads and a shaft-end head. An internally-threaded sleeve is slidably engaged with the shaft, and overlies the slot-nested end of the limb, and threadedly fastens onto the shaft threads, to prevent the limb from removing from the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1995Date of Patent: September 3, 1996Assignee: Milton L.
