  • Patent number: 4697419
Abstract: A hydraulic power actuator system flow augmentation scheme of the boot-strap type. The scheme consists of a jet pump to augment pump inlet flow with return flow by reducing the pressure in the jet pump below return pressure. A check valve is installed in the augmentation circuit to prevent back-flow during low flow rate conditions. Two load recovery check valves are used to short circuit the actuator during aiding load conditions.

  • Patent number: 4696320
Abstract: A pressure regulating valve with a push pull adjusting knob includes a valve body housing a valve member defining an annular seat adapted for engagement with a knife edge seat on a valve sleeve insert. The valve member is opened and closed by a flexible diaphragm operating mechanism, the diaphragm being exposed on one side to outlet valve pressure and on its opposite side to the atmosphere and a valve control spring. A valve stem rotatably mounted in a valve bonnet adjusts a valve nut for varying the compression of the spring, and thereby the spring force on the diaphragm. A push-pull adjusting knob slidably and rotatably engages the valve stem. The knob is locked against the bonnet in one axial position and is released from the bonnet in the opposite axial position for rotating the valve stem. A detent between the valve stem and adjusting knob provides resistance to the adjusting knob movement, and knob movement is limited by a cap threadably engaged with the end of the adjusting screw.

  • Patent number: 4694860
Abstract: Fluid-flow control apparatus and method are disclosed by which magnetically-positionable elements within a rigid body can be externally manipulated using a controlling source of magnetic flux. The relative attractive forces which bias internal magnetic elements into normally-closed sealing engagement are substantially altered by repositioning the magnetic elements in response to the controlling magnet flux. Complete sealing or isolation against back flow through the valve under conditions of net positive outlet pressure is inhibited by the internal double-acting sealing elements which respond in unified manner to the controlling magnetic flux.

  • Patent number: 4694730
Abstract: The control valve for the re-setting of the props at a predetermined minimum setting pressure is connected at respective junctions to a high pressure conduit, to the pressure chambers of the props, to the prop-setting conduit and to the return-flow conduit leading to the annular chambers of the props. The spring-loaded closure body is guided displaceably in the valve housing by journals on each of the two sides of the valve cone. The ends of the journals are formed as actuation faces. The valve cone seals off the high pressure junction and the junctions leading to the pressure chambers of the prop and opens only when a predetermined minimum setting pressure at the junction is exceeded. For closure, the control valve is loaded through the junction on the actuation area of the journal with the pressure fluid conducted to the annular chambers of the props.

  • Patent number: 4691729
Abstract: A reverse-buckling rupture disk assembly provides a cylindrical housing having a bore for conveying flow through the housing. Removably mounted within the housing is a frangible concave-convex disk which is connected along its peripheral edge to the housing so as to form a closure to the bore. The housing can be disassembled and such disassembly allows removal and replacement of the disk. The disk is designed to resist pressure on the convex side up to a predetermined pressure and then collapsing after the predetermined pressure is reached. A knife blade is positioned within the housing bore on the concave side of the disk for perforating the disk when it collapses. The ends and center of the blade are removably connected to the inner surface of the housing so that the blade can be replaced after it wears or otherwise needs replacement. The knife blade is spaced from the inner surface of the housing at least along a substantial portion of its length. The knife blade can be serrated and is preferably curved.

  • Patent number: 4688756
Abstract: A single metal-seated ball valve can accommodate differential temperature expansion of the components without jamming yet provide tight shutoff in a closed position, and provides tight shutoff even if solids are present in the fluid being valved. The valve includes a valve body with a through-extending bore and interior cavity, and a rotatable valve element (such as a ball) having a through-extending passageway and mounted for rotation about an axis for movement between the first, open position in which the passageway and bore are generally aligned, and a second, closed position wherein the passageway and bore are not aligned. A metal sealing ring, or a machined sealing surface of the metal valve body, sealingly engages the valve element and prevents flow of fluid through the bore when the valve element is in its second, closed position. A pair of elongated flexible linear spring elements bias the valve element into sealing relationship with the sealing ring.

  • Patent number: 4683774
Abstract: A bowden cable wherein an intermediate section of the tubular casing is replaced with or an end portion of the casing is constituted by a hollow insert containing a motor for a blocking element which is movable relative to the insert and, when moved to an operative position, prevents an abutment on and hence the wire of the bowden cable from moving axially. The bowden cable is then inoperative, i.e., the wire cannot transmit motion to a lever or to another movable component which holds the hood, the trunk or another mobile part of a motor vehicle in a predetermined (e.g., closed) position.

  • Patent number: 4671308
Abstract: An improved, soft-seated fire-safe ball valve is disclosed. The ball valve includes a body having a central passageway, a ball member positioned in the passageway, and a pair of radially inwardly extending shoulders in the passageway disposed circumferentially thereof on opposite sides of the ball member. The ball member includes a fluid flow opening therethrough and is mounted for selective rotation between valve open and closed positions to control fluid flow through the valve. • Patent number: 4669498
Abstract: The valve comprises a valve socket to be mounted in the wall of an inflatable body, e.g. by a snap fastener device, and a valve cap having an internal thread for threaded connection with an external thread on the valve socket. The valve socket includes an air duct with a short duct section which is connected with the outer surface of the valve socket only through a number of narrow ducts discharging at the bottom of an annular groove from whose internal edge a number of radial ducts are connected with a central bore provided in the cap. At the internal edge of the annular groove a pressure sensitive annular sealing member is provided which by the pressure from the outside will be pressed out on a larger diameter in the annular groove. By eliminating the pressure action the sealing member reoccupies its initial position in airtight abutment between the bottom plate of the annular groove and an internal annular surface in the cap.
