  • Patent number: 10029195
Abstract: The present technology relates generally to fluid filtration systems. In particular, several embodiments are directed toward compartmentally expandable rotating belt filters and associated systems and methods. In some embodiments, for example, a filtering system for contaminated fluid includes a first fluid filtering chamber having a first filter belt movably positioned therein and a second fluid filtering chamber having a second filter belt movably positioned therein. The first filter belt can be operable in parallel with the second filter belt. The system can further include a sensor configured to sense a condition related a volume of the contaminated fluid, a speed of flow of the contaminated fluid, or a level of contaminants in the contaminated fluid. A controller can be configured to initiate, stop, or adjust fluid flow to the first fluid filtering chamber and second fluid filtering chamber individually in response to the sensed condition.

  • Patent number: 9605422
Abstract: A storm water catch basin hazardous liquid valve that is automatically responsive to the presence of hazardous liquids in storm water run-off, the valve utilizing a hydrophobic barrier member to separate hazardous liquids from water. Collection of a sufficient amount of hazardous liquids across the hydrophobic barrier member initiates a float release member to seal off the catch basin. In the neutral or non-activated status, the storm water run-off enters the catch basin, passes through the valve assembly and out through the storm water conduit system in normal manner. When a hazardous liquid, such as oil, gasoline, chemicals, etc., is present in the storm water run-off above a threshold amount, the valve activates to close off the catch basin such that the storm water run-off is precluded from entering the storm water conduit system.

  • Patent number: 9186603
Abstract: A sludge protector canopy baffle system for use in a clarifier tank with a tank bottom, and peripheral vertical wall bounding the interior of the tank is formed by a plurality of individual perforated baffles interconnected and supported by other components of the tank forming a rigid ceiling of sloped and curved perforated baffles allowing the incoming water to pass on its surface minimizing sludge re-suspension and directing the flow on top of the blanket in the settling zone of the tank. Each baffle has a curved surface in the lateral direction to allow drainage of solids and openings to allow gas release and water flow. The baffles are interconnected along the length by cross connectors to ensure rigidity. The resulting system provides a sludge protector canopy baffle system by which the water flows uniformly through the tank without disturbing or re-suspending settled or thickened sludge and overall tank performance is enhanced.
