Patent number: 9452702Abstract: A system is disclosed for preventing power head rollover of a vehicle during a dump operation. The system includes a dump signal indicating when the vehicle is dumping, a strut sensor reading indicating a condition of the front struts, and a controller receiving the dump signal and strut readings, and activating a warning signal when the dump signal indicates the vehicle is dumping and the strut reading indicates the front wheels may be lifted off the ground. The strut sensors can be height, pressure or other types of sensors. The controller can also disable further lifting of the dump body when the dump signal indicates the vehicle is dumping and the strut sensor indicates the front wheels may be lifted off the ground. The system can include a strut limit, and the controller can act based on comparing the strut reading to the strut limit.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2013Date of Patent: September 27, 2016Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Francois F. Patent number: 9433843Abstract: A method is disclosed involving receiving GPS data from persona portable training devices of users when traversing an off-road segment of an electronic map together with associated data indicative of a heart rate of a user during the movements. The position and heart rate data for each user traversing the segment are processed using data indicative of a fitness profile for the user. The resulting data is used to determine a normalized cost to be associated with the segment, indicative of the difficulty in traversing the segment. The cost data is generated using a neural network. The resulting cost data for different segments in a network of segments is used to generate route suggestions for users based upon desired workout intensity, fitness levels, etc.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2012Date of Patent: September 6, 2016Assignee: TomTom International B.V.Inventor: Clayton Richard Morlock

Patent number: 9413500Abstract: A method and apparatus are described that provides flexible spectrum usage by using a paired frequency division duplex (FDD) spectrum to enable dynamic access in television white space (TVWS), sub-leased spectrum or unlicensed spectrum, (e.g., industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) bands), in a femto cell environment or the like. Elastic FDD (E-FDD) enables femto cell operation in TVWS, sub-leased spectrum and/or unlicensed spectrum, either simultaneously with licensed spectrum or as an alternate channel to licensed spectrum. E-FDD enables dynamic asymmetric bandwidth allocation for uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) in FDD, and enables variable duplex spacing, (i.e., using FDD with minimum duplex spacing between DL and UL spectrum, or, using hybrid-FDD, (FDD in a time duplexed fashion), when a spectrum gap between the UL and DL spectrum is below a certain minimum threshold. Additionally, the signaling enhancements to implement E-FDD are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2011Date of Patent: August 9, 2016Assignee: InterDigital Patent Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Amith V. Patent number: 9403555Abstract: A selection track setting section in a driving route generation device determines as a selected track a track of a preceding vehicle when a detection section and a track generation section detects a track of the preceding vehicle which is running on the same driving lane of a host vehicle. A candidate track selection section outputs as a candidate track one of tracks of front vehicles, detected by the detection section and the track generation section, other than the track of the preceding vehicle. A switching selection section switches as the selected track from the track of the preceding vehicle to the candidate track when a detection of the track of the preceding vehicle is interrupted during a predetermined detection period. An estimate route generation section generates an estimated driving route of the host vehicle on the bass of the selected track.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2013Date of Patent: August 2, 2016Assignee: DENSO CORPORATIONInventors: Yusuke Ueda, Tomohiko Tsuruta, Takeshi Hatoh, Takayuki Kondoh, Naoya Inoue

Patent number: 9400183Abstract: An autonomous vehicle may access portions of a map to maneuver a roadway. The map may be split into one or more levels that represent different regions in space. For example, an overpass may be represented by one level while the road below the overpass may be on a separate level. A vehicle traveling on a particular level may use map data that is associated with that level. Furthermore, if the vehicle travels through a warp zone, it may transition from the current level to a destination level and thus begin to use map data associated with the destination level.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2015Date of Patent: July 26, 2016Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Christopher Paul Urmson, Michael Steven Montemerlo, Andrew Hughes Chatham, Daniel Trawick Egnor

Patent number: 9393996Abstract: A controller and control method assists a driver with backing up of a vehicle with an attached trailer. The vehicle has a front axle with steerable front wheels controlled by the driver and a rear axle with non-steerable rear wheels. The trailer has a front axle with non-steerable front wheels and a rear axle with steerable rear wheels controlled by a trailer steering controller. The controller receives an operator-controlled vehicle steering angle and a measured hitch angle. The controller determines a trailer steering angle based on the operator-controller vehicle steering angle and the measured hitch angle. The controller continuously controls the trailer (e.g., via a steering angle of the rear wheels) to maintain a trajectory with substantially no lateral slippage.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2013Date of Patent: July 19, 2016Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Ambarish Goswami, Jimmy Chiu

Patent number: 9367065Abstract: Models can be generated of a vehicle's view of its environment and used to maneuver the vehicle. This view need not include what objects or features the vehicle is actually seeing, but rather those areas that the vehicle is able to observe using its sensors if the sensors were completely un-occluded. For example, for each of a plurality of sensors of the object detection component, a computer may generate an individual 3D model of that sensor's field of view. Weather information is received and used to adjust one or more of the models. After this adjusting, the models may be aggregated into a comprehensive 3D model. The comprehensive model may be combined with detailed map information indicating the probability of detecting objects at different locations. The model of the vehicle's environment may be computed based on the combined comprehensive 3D model and detailed map information.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2013Date of Patent: June 14, 2016Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Dmitri A.
