Abstract: A process for the preparation of agglomerates containing diperoxydodecanedioic acid and a water-impermeable material, e.g. lauric acid, which process comprises the successive steps of agitating an aqueous suspension of the peroxy acid in the presence of the water-impermeable material and above the melting point thereof, cooling the suspension of the agglomerated particles thus obtained to a temperature at which the water-impermeable material turns solid, and isolating the resulting agglomerates. The agglomerates obtained are suitable for use as bleaching agent.

Abstract: An electroless copper plating bath contains copper sulfate, EDTA, DMAB and triethanolamine and is adjusted to a pH in the range between approximately 8 and 9. The addition of cyanide ions alone or preferably with a sulfur compound such as thiodipropionic acid or a nitrogen compound such as 1,10 phenanthroline provided bright copper deposits. The use of an electroless plating bath operating at a low pH permits electroless plating of alkali sensitive substrates.

Abstract: A coating composition comprising a film forming binder and an antifoulingly effective amount of at least one of 3,3,4, 4-tetrachlorotetrahydrothiophene-1,1,-dioxide and 3,3, 4-trichlorotetrahydrothiophene-1,1-dioxide as an effective ingredient is highly useful as an underwater antifouling agent.
Abstract: A method for the inhibition of corrosion of metals involves treatment of the metal surface with a polyester having a functional terminal group such as an amine. The polyester may be used together with other corrosion inhibitors, a useful combination being the polyester together with a hydroxy-oxime. The corrosion inhibiting material may be incorporated into a surface coating composition such as paint which is then applied to the metal surface.
Abstract: This invention is directed to a method for the lightfastness enhancement of dyed nylon fibers by applying at least 10 ppm copper in the form of an alkyl, aryl, or alkyl-aryl copper sulfonate before, during, or after dyeing the nylon fibers.

Abstract: Waterborne nitrocellulose compositions comprising nitrocellulose, at least one active solvent for the nitrocellulose, a plasticizer, water and an anionic ammonium-containing surfactant which decomposes upon heating. The waterborne nitrocellulose compositions are useful as coating compositions for printed metal foils and as such exhibit advantageous properties including water resistance, surface mar resistance, a low coefficient of friction, high gloss and a high degree of clarity. The nitrocellulose compositions are also characterized by rewet capability and rapid forced drying.
Abstract: A practically fast electroless copper plating solution is provided by adding a specific monoamine as an accelerator. The accelerator should be a tertiary monoamine and cannot be a diamine, does not have a complexing ability for copper ion, and does not contain a ketone or carboxyl group or an unsaturated group. Specific examples of such monoamines include triethylamine, tripropylamine, tribenzylamine, N-methyl-piperidine, and tris (4-bromophenyl) amine, N-methylmorpholine.
Abstract: Textile materials made of natural or synthetic polyamides or mixtures thereof are dyed in the presence of a cyclic ester of sulfurous acid with an aliphatic 1,2-diol in place of a customary pH regulant.

Abstract: A solubilizer for water-insoluble aliginates consisting essentially of a salt which releases fluorine ions when dissolved in water, an aqueous solution of the solubilizer and a dissolving method with use of the aqueous solution are described.
Abstract: Cationic aqueous bituminous emulsion-aggregate slurries are disclosed to be formed with cationic emulsions prepared at elevated temperatures by emulsifying bitumen, such as an asphalt, in water with a cation-active emulsifier which is the product of the reaction of modified polyamine with certain polycarboxylic acids and anhydrides. The modified polyamines are obtained by reacting suitable polyalkylene amines with a sugar-containing syrup, preferably molasses.

Abstract: A plating activator composition that is largely silver is applied in a thin film to two surface areas of a ceramic chip capacitor. Subsequently, many such chip capacitors are electrolytically nickel plated, e.g. are electro-nickel barrel plated to provide two strongly adhered nickel terminals to the component. This activator composition consists essentially of at elast 85% Ag, from 0.1 to 7% Pd, from 1% to 10% of an element selected from Cu, Si, Bi, Zn, Fe, Ni, Sn, Zr, Nb, Sb, Mn and combinations thereof. These terminals are strong, truly conformal and are highly manufacturable.
