A portable terminal comprises: a reading unit that reads the displayed access code; an access unit that obtains information indicating an upload destination of the scanned file based on the reading and, using the obtained information, accesses the upload destination; and a download unit that downloads the scanned file from the upload destination. The information indicating the upload destination of the scanned file includes authentication information related to an access of the upload destination of the scanned file.

Abstract: To enable a user to more easily set a rule relating to folder allocation and file naming at the time of filing data, such as a document scanned image and a received facsimile, and storing the file. On a user interface screen for setting a rule relating to property information that is used at the time of allocating a file to a folder for storage, at least a first area for editing the rule and a second area displaying an item a user can select are provided. The item is a unit element for a user to set a character string configuring the property information and corresponds to a character string of an arbitrary attribute a user can set. Then, the rule is created by the item selected by a user from the second area being arranged at a position designated by the user in the first area.

The image forming apparatus includes a printing engine, memory to store information indicating correspondences of a plurality of file types and uniform resource identifier (URI) addresses of rendering subjects to render printing data of each file type of the plurality of file types in correspondence to each of a plurality of external apparatuses, a communication device to receive a file by a direct printing function method from an external apparatus, and a processor to identify the type of the received file, determine a URI address corresponding to the identified file type and the external apparatus, according to the information indicating correspondences, control the communication device to transmit the received file to the determined URI address, and receive, from the determined URI address, rendered data corresponding to the file.
