Abstract: A beehive system includes a main hive body with opposed, insulated side walls having access ports formed respectively therein. A vent assembly fits into an access port, and includes a valve case with an outer housing, a coaxial core portion, and plural opposed panels between the outer housing and the core portion, with openings formed between the panels. A pivotally movable valve member includes a core portion and two or more blades attached to and extending outwardly from the core portion. The valve member cooperates with the valve case to regulate air flow through the vent assembly. A bimetallic coil interconnects the valve case and the valve member, and a perforated screen cover is attached to the valve case to allow air flow therethrough. A kit of components usable to retrofit an existing hive, and a method of retrofitting an existing beehive to add a vent thereto, are also disclosed.

Abstract: A floating breakwater and wind energy integrated system used for offshore aquaculture. The system contains the wind turbine system, the floating breakwater system, and offshore aquaculture system. The combination of wind turbine, floating breakwater system and offshore aquaculture system makes full use of the floating breakwater, thus decrease the wave load on the floating cage. In addition, the floating breakwater offers a supporting platform to the floating wind turbine, which effectively reduces the costs of the wind turbine. Meanwhile, a power autarkic offshore aquaculture system may be realized by using the electrical energy generated by the turbine. Compared with the simple offshore aquaculture system, the utilization rate of the sea per unit becomes even higher while the costs of the floating wind turbine becomes even lower.

A body having a side wall panel and opposing, spaced-apart end caps defining an interior for storing a supply of grain is adapted for being mounted on and supported by the base and having an open bottom for gravity flow of grain from the body onto the base and into the plurality of feed dishes. An opening is provided in the body for introducing grain into the interior of the body, and a lid panel is provided for covering and closing the opening in the body.

Abstract: This invention relates in general to a confining and restraining apparatus for livestock to facilitate their handling. The apparatus has an animal receiving stall having a frame, a base and a means for rotatably mounting the frame on the base. The animal receiving stall has opposed, entrance and exit openings, an entrance gate assembly is located at the entrance opening and fixed to one end of the base. The exit gate assembly is located at the exit opening and attached at one end of the frame, the exit gate assembly having a pair of stanchions which are adapted to capture a neck of an animal therebetween. The means for rotatably mounting the frame to the base allows rotation of the frame in both clockwise and counter clockwise directions around a vertical axis to position an animal in a selected treatment position.

Abstract: A method of ice fishing includes providing an ice fishing pole having a handle having a first side and an opposing second side, a rod portion extending from the handle wherein the ice fishing pole has a longitudinal axis extending through the handle and the rod portion. The ice fishing pole includes a reel rotatably secured to the handle proximate the second side of the handle, the reel rotatable about a rotational axis and containing fishing line and a grip attached to the reel a distance from the rotational axis wherein the grip is configured to be gripped and manipulate the reel. The method includes placing at least one object on the ice having two spaced apart elevated surfaces and lowering a baited hook into the water through the ice by unwinding fishing line from the reel.

This invention allows for the continuous passive cycling of water through the bait bucket to optimize the conditions therein and the lifespan of the baitfish.
