  • Patent number: 4321951
Abstract: The warp yarn stop motion is provided with a locating rail which is sub-divided into electrically insulated sections from the U-shaped rail. Each of these sections is electrically connected with pilot lights at the ends of each section. Should a drop wire fall on to a rail section, the pilot lights at the ends of the section are also illuminated so as to define the segment of the weaving width within which a broken warp yarn is located.

  • Patent number: 4320785
Abstract: A mechanism on shuttleless looms for the transfer of the end 17' of the weft yarn from a yarn holder 26, 27 on a nosegripper 6 of a yarn insertion needle to a yarn clamp 13, 14 arranged on the machine frame and immovable in the weft direction. The yarn clamp 13, 14 includes a carrier which can move to swing in time with the reed 2 and has two oscillating levers 7, 10 which carry at their ends the jaws 13, 14 which grip the weft yarn. The one oscillating lever 7 is connected rigidly to the carrier, while the other lever 10 is stressed elastically via a rubber sleeve 12 into the gripping position with the one oscillating lever 7. The jaw 14 is held back by cooperation with a stop 15, while the jaw 13 moves on. The yarn clamp 13, 14 hereby automatically gets spread for the release of the end of the weft yarn or respectively for accepting the next weft yarn end.

  • Patent number: 4320786
Abstract: The measuring device is used for measuring lengths of thread, for example for measuring weft thread for a weaving machine. The measuring device includes a constantly rotating winding body or drum and a thread guide which is adjustable longitudinally of the drum. The thread guide is spaced from the drum and has one or more guide surfaces formed by eyelets or a comb. • Patent number: 4320537
Abstract: A shoulder pad for football players comprising a left-hand member which fits over the left shoulder and a right-hand member which fits over the right shoulder. Each of the members is a relatively rigid member of generally inverted U-shape as viewed from the side and has a chestplate portion, a backplate portion and an arch integrally connecting the plate portions. Each member has padding on the inside thereof with the padding at the top of the arch overlying the shoulder. A pair of caps of relatively rigid material fit over the outer part of the shoulders and have shoulder padding on the inside thereof separate from the arch padding. The shoulder padding is hinged to the arch padding for enabling the shoulder padding to swing upwardly relative to the arch padding.

  • Patent number: 4319611
Abstract: A picking comb, particularly for jet looms. The comb has an array of active, monitoring and passive guide teeth each having a picking portion and a mounting portion and fixed by its mounting portion in spaced side-by-side releation on a carrier means. At least one of said guide teeth has its picking portion separate from its mounting portion. The picking portion is provided with a connecting element fitting into a corresponding bore in the mounting portion. Correct positioning of the two portions is assured by interfitting positioning parts and a clamping element. The detachable connection between the picking portion and the mounting portion of a tooth makes it easier to replace a defective picking portion without the necessity of removing the whole picking channel or a section thereof.

  • Patent number: 4318428
Abstract: The warp beam is constructed with a hollow tube on which flanges can be symmetrically mounted as well as with a tubular extension at one end to permit asymmetric mounting in the bearings of a weaving machine. The warp beam is shaftless and the extension element has a slightly greater diameter than the diameter of the warp beam tube so as to render the warp beam more rigid. The rigidity of the warp beam reduces distortions and vibrations of the warp beam during weaving.

  • Patent number: 4315530
Abstract: Control for a dobby mechanism with a wedge coupling between a drive shaft and an eccentric for the dobby motion, whereby the wedge is couplable and uncouplable with a coupling member in two coupling positions which are diametrically opposite to each other. Each coupling member is connected with one radially moveably mounted switching rod, that the two switching rods being in connection with each other via two control levers (which control levers under spring action are pulled into their starting position) and a coupling rod. One of the two control levers via a balance lever cooperates both with a known needle mechanism and with a control axle, the latter being moved back and forth synchronously in the rhythm of the pressure guides for the needle mechanism, whereas the other control lever is mounted on a fixed pivot axle.

  • Patent number: 4315049
Abstract: A novel low bulk seam is disclosed for use in paper making machine fabrics, such as dryer felts. The seam is particularly adapted for use with multi-filament yarns which comprise multi-ply fabrics. A novel method for producing this seam is disclosed which comprises the insertion and adhesion of a seaming coil, the removal of picks in adjacent fabric areas, the folding and overlapping of such areas, the creation of a warp fringe, and the pulling of portions of that fringe into and through portions of the fabric body fasteners to create a stitchless seam providing substantially uniform thickness and air permeability across the full fabric width. A durable, reliable, non-marking seam is accordingly provided for use with spun, mono-filament and/or multi-filament fabrics.

  • Patent number: 4313230
Abstract: A small weapon, such as a short-bladed defensive knife can be innocently concealed in an article of ordinary apparel, such as a belt, according to the present invention in such a manner as to both be securely retained within the article of apparel and be quickly and simply withdrawn by a simple, single motion when needed in instances of self-defense. The weapon is retained within the article of apparel by frictional engagement between the article and the weapon, which is primarily achieved by different curvatures of the holster, which is combined with the article of apparel, and of the weapon. The frictional engagement between the weapon and the holster can be increased by providing additional end clips, protrusions, or other attachments between the weapon and its holster.

  • Patent number: 4313473
Abstract: The belting has a single layer woven central portion (24) and two tubular edge portions (21, 22) and is made on a needle belt weaving loom provided with a knitting needle (37). The belting serves preferably for safety belts in motor vehicles. One tubular edge portion (22) is closed by a row of stitching (28') whereby the row of stitching does not lie at the outer edge of the tubular edge portion (22) but should disappear into the fabric at the edge of the central portion (24). By means of the invention the rate of production should be increased, which results from manufacture with two simultaneously moving weft thread insertion needles (30, 34) which simultaneously at each pick insert two weft threads (31, 35). To anchor one weft thread at the outer edges of the edge parts a common shed for both weft thread insertion needles is formed at least on the insertion side by the two outer edge warp threads (1a, 2a).
