  • Patent number: 7206003
Abstract: A controller-driver, a method of driving the controller-driver, and a method of processing image data enabling scroll or other various functions without adding a storage capacity of a display memory nor increasing power consumption. A built-in display memory having a capacity of one frame (H pixels×V pixels×the number of bits) is partitioned into a plurality of memories according to an image type. High order bits are then stored in a first display memory 7a and high order bits of the next frame or low order bits are stored in a second display memory 7b by using a first selector 8 to a third selector 10 controlled by a memory control circuit 6 before they are read out. Thereby, high-level image data of one frame can be displayed when the scroll function is not used and image data of a plurality of frames can be displayed without accessing an image drawing unit 1 when the scroll function is used, thereby reducing power consumption.

  • Patent number: 7190360
Abstract: The present invention is intended to achieve an improvement in the horizontal resolution of an active matrix semiconductor display device. In accordance with the present invention, by supplying a modulated clock signal obtained by frequency modulating a reference clock signal at a constant period to a driving circuit of an active matrix semiconductor display device or to a driving circuit of a passive matrix semiconductor display device, signal information (the presence or absence of an edge, the extent of nearness) relative to the vicinity of the sampling of video signals (image signals) sampled on the basis of this modulated clock signal can be written to the corresponding pixels of the semiconductor display device as shading information. The driving method of the present invention makes use of a phenomenon which apparently makes the resolution of an image display higher owing to the shading information (visual Mach phenomenon and Craik-O'Brien phenomenon).

  • Patent number: 7184020
Abstract: An operation instructing device is included substantially at the center of a portable apparatus, and has a sensor for detecting motion values of the portable apparatus. A user performs various movements instructed by an instructing unit, while holding the portable apparatus. The motion values detected by the sensor are normalized by an analyzing unit, and then an area setting unit sets a movement detecting area personally for the user. An assigning unit obtains operation instructions for each function of the portable apparatus, and generates an operation instruction table in which each instruction operation is assigned to a sub area of the movement detection area. A judging unit judges within which sub area the motion value notified by the analyzing unit falls, and outputs the operation instruction that is assigned to the sub area within which the judging unit judged that the notified motion value falls.
