  • Patent number: 4015399
Abstract: A building is constructed by utilizing pre-fabricated elements with the load carrying and supporting sections being constructed of hat-shaped sections generally U-shaped in cross section. A plurality of these hat-shaped sections having at least one upwardly extending flange are secured around a floor member so that the flanges extend vertically from the floor. A series of other hat-shaped sections are then secured to the vertically extending flanges, at their basis and disposed peripherally in spaced parallel relation extending upwardly from the floor. Wall panels are then secured between adjacent vertical hat-shaped sections and additional hat-shaped sections constituting wall plates are placed on top of the wall panels and vertically extending hat-shaped sections. A series of tie-beams are then disposed on top of the wall plates adjacent opposing vertically extending hat-shaped sections.

  • Patent number: 4012872
Abstract: A geodesic dome-like structure of the disclosure is constructed from a plurality of generally equilateral triangular panels whose sides are each defined by a plurality of elongated rods extending in spaced relationship to each other. Opposite ends of the rods associated with each panel side are secured to the ends of the rods associated with the other two sides. A plurality of generally planar hinge plates are fixed to the rods in a longitudinally spaced relationship and have their planes oriented perpendicular to the elongated direction of the rods. Pintles pivotally interconnect the hinge plates associated with adjacent panel sides about axes intermediate the rods so that the panels pivot relative to each other about axes located outwardly from their sides. The pintles take the form of elongated pintle rods or headed pins.

  • Patent number: 4012871
Abstract: Modular housing units each including identical floor and roof structures as well as walls made up of panels of identical size assembled together with some of these panels including window structures and door structures. Ceiling panels are of the same shape and size as the wall panels. The floor and roof structures are such that the floor structure of one unit can be placed on the roof structure of a next-lower unit. Thus modular units can be assembled at a common elevation enabling a number of the modular units to be combined to provide a given housing area of any desired size and in addition the modular units can be assembled vertically to provide both vertical and horizontal assemblies of the modular units.
