  • Patent number: 8899146
Abstract: An apparatus for cooking ground beef hamburgers by reflecting and trapping thermal energy and simultaneous accelerated bun cooking. The apparatus comprised of a plate that is hinged to the sidewall of the griddle for the simultaneous cooking of both sides of ground beef and buns on both sides. Once meat is placed in a first cooking area, the plates on the hinge are rotated down and come to rest on the meat, applying slight pressure to the meat. Plates are attached to the side wall and to the rear wall. Modified plates are used to facilitate the rotation of a large wire frame that contains a metal chain mail fabric into a second cooking area. When buns are placed in the second cooking area, the chain mail frame is brought down onto the outer sides of the buns, putting weight on the buns and accelerating their cooking time.

  • Patent number: 8899147
Abstract: A compact blender with a drinking water connection tube, supporting conventional tap water connections has a water dosing valve to pressure water distributed to the blending compartment or jug. Water flows from the connection tube, to a splitting device, from where inlet tubes that allow passing of water inside the blending compartment. The lid has external protrusions with inner cavities connected a duct with holes that introduce drinking water inside the blending compartment. When the frozen fruit capsule is introduced through the lid and the operation button is pushed, the exact amount of water is dosed by the water dosing valve. When water enters the blending compartment, the motor starts running turning the axle of the rotor and blades, so that water is mixed with the frozen fruit capsule thus generating the juice to be dispensed.

  • Patent number: 8901467
Abstract: A multi-layer rod shaped ceramic igniter includes an elongated tapered electrode having a central core of resistant material and two annular segments. One of the segments in on one side of the core and the other on an opposite side and connected to two slightly converging facets extending along the core. The multi-layered rod shaped ceramic igniters disclosed herein may be manufactured by slip-casting, injection molding or extruding a green annular body and removing material from opposite sides of the green body to form two almost parallel but slightly converging facets that extend over the heater igniter between the back surface and the tip of the igniter. After removing material between the annular segments the igniter is air dried and then heated in a vacuum at atmospheric pressure to approximately 900° C. in order to burn off the organic binder. The ceramic is then held in an inert atmosphere and heated to a temperature of 1600° C.

  • Patent number: 8895887
Abstract: A method for repairing a degraded bolt hole in a casing flange by reaming and removing at least some corrosion on an inside and around the hole to form a reamed hole, mounting the flange to float relative to upper and lower electrodes of a welding machine, radially and axially clamping an area of the flange surrounding the reamed hole, placing upper and lower filler slugs in the reamed hole, placing the electrodes against upper and lower filler slugs and applying a welding current through the electrodes while applying pressure to the filler slugs with the electrodes and resistively heating and melting the filler slugs to form a weldment, and pulsing the welding current on and off. Pulsing may be performed with progressively increasing amounts of current. In situ tempering under the pressure of the electrodes may be performed on a substantially liquid pool formed by the welding current.

  • Patent number: 8890031
Abstract: A system for controlling a welding operation provides for open-loop control of voltage applied to a wire electrode during an initial arc initiation stage of operation. The voltage may be based upon an operator set voltage. Electrode wire feed speeds may be varied during the same period. The voltage may be changed, but still open-loop controlled after initial contact between the electrode and a workpiece. The control transitions from open-loop to closed loop following the arc initiation stage, which may be a fixed interval or varied based upon various factors. Closed-loop voltage control then ensues, in which voltage may be limited to values based upon the initial open-loop voltage. The voltage may be regulated by control of SCR firing angles, such as by reference to a zero-crossing of an input AC waveform.

  • Patent number: 8891583
Abstract: An apparatus for casting metals by a nucleated casting technique to create a preform, the apparatus including a mold having a base and a side wall where the base can be moved relative to the side wall to withdraw the preform as it is being created. In various circumstances, portions of a droplet spray created by an atomizing nozzle, i.e., overspray, may accumulate on a top surface of the side wall and prevent or inhibit the preform from being moved relative to the side wall. The atomizing nozzle can be oriented such that the droplet spray passes over the top of the side wall to remelt and remove at least a portion of the overspray that has accumulated thereon. The mold can be rotated such that the overspray formed on a region of or on the entire perimeter of the top surface can pass through the droplet spray and can be removed from the side wall.
