Abstract: A system may present information regarding a document and provide an option for removing the document. The system may also receive selection of the option and remove the document when the option is selected. The system may aggregate information regarding documents that have been removed by a group of users and assign scores to a set of documents based on the aggregated information.

Abstract: Methods and systems for a web crawler scheduler that utilizes sitemaps from websites are described. A web crawler scheduling system receives a notification from a website or web server. In response to the notification, the system accesses one or more sitemap(s) for documents associated with the website or web server. The system schedules crawls of the documents based on information identified from the sitemaps. The system crawls at least a subset of the documents scheduled for crawling.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus for performing dialogue processing. The apparatus acquires text data described in a natural language and stores a plurality of examples each including an example statement and frame information described using a frame format and corresponding to the example statement. A similarity between the text data and the example statement is calculated. An example is selected corresponding to an example statement whose similarity to the text data is the highest from among the plurality of examples in accordance with the calculated similarity. Text data is converted into the frame format in accordance with the frame information corresponding to the example selected by the example selection. Dialogue processing is performed in accordance with the text data converted into the frame format.

Abstract: The system and methods disclosed herein validate the authenticity of a document and an individual's claimed identity. The system and method use a validation facility that is configurable to compare and match characteristics of biometric and non-biometric data presented by an individual with biometric and non-biometric data received from a request to a database or file system holding such information. The determination on the matching characteristics of the data can occur in completely automated fashion without intervention from the user, but user intervention is also possible allowing the user to review and override certain data discrepancies. The validation facility provides a user interface for use by a user to review a determination on the data analysis and instruct the validation facility to override that determination if the user determines the cause of the identity verification failure is within an acceptable criterion.

Abstract: In one embodiment the present invention includes a computer-implemented method comprising receiving a first query in a local computer system to access data stored on a remote computer system the local computer system. Data elements of the remote data are associated with data elements of the local data. The query is transformed into multiple queries. A second query is sent to the remote computer system to retrieve remote data. A first data result is received and stored on the local computer system and incorporated into a third query. The third query is executed against the local data and the first data result to produce a result. Sensitive data may be stored locally in a dimension table of a star schema and non-sensitive data may be stored remotely in a fact table and another dimension table of the star schema, for example.

Abstract: In order to perform reliable acquisition of album names and song titles while a CD is played back, compressed in MP3 format and filtered, the TOC information of the CD is read out by a CD playback section of a playback/dubbing apparatus. This information is then sent from a system controller to a TOC album relevant information database via a network server and a network communication and corresponding album names and song titles are then acquired. In the case in which corresponding contents information cannot be acquired at the database, the system controller reads out copyright information (ISRC code) of the CD using the CD playback section, searches databases of homepages for music companies or sales companies via the network server and the network communication based on this information, and acquires album names and song titles.

Abstract: A technique authenticates a user of a massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG). The technique involves establishing a user database containing user information describing the MMORPG user based on a set of first transmissions received from a game provider of the MMORPG. The technique further involves (i) receiving a second transmission from the game provider, the second transmission including an authentication request to authenticate the MMORPG user, and (ii) providing a response transmission to the game provider in response to the second transmission. The response transmission includes an authentication result based on an adaptive authentication operation involving the user database. The authentication result controls whether the game provider provides the MMORPG user with current access to the MMORPG.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for rendering search results are described. In one aspect of the invention, a search request is received from a computerized client. A search is performed based on the search request in at least two different categories of information to obtain search results in the searched categories. Selected search results are returned to the client to facilitate rendering the search results at the client. Search results from different search categories are returned in a manner configured to be presented in different panes of a graphical user interface rendered on the client. In another aspect, what searches to perform can be determined based at least in part upon search results display settings associated with the client, such that searches are performed only in categories of information that are associated with a pane that is in an open state on the client.

Abstract: A storage system manages the total capacity of a shared storage medium to store block-basis data and file-basis data. When block data and its address are input through a fiber channel port, an input/output unit converts its data format to a data format that is internally applied by the storage system. When file data and its address are input, a file system converts its data format to a block data format internally applied by the storage system. The file system derives a file logical volume address from the received file address and translates file data to block data. A managing unit derives the address of a block logical volume from the block address delivered from the input/output unit. The managing unit translates block logical volume address or the file logical volume address to a physical address, and writes data to or reads data from the shared storage medium.

Abstract: A stub directory is written out to a storage device for multiple files in a container file, the stub directory including identifiers of the multiple files but excluding data of the multiple files. In response to a request to access one file of the multiple files, the data of the one file is written out to the storage device. A requested modification is allowed to be performed on the one file written out to the storage device to generate a modified version of the file. After modification of the one file is completed, a previous version of the file in the container file is replaced with the modified version of the file.

Abstract: Two methods for measuring keyword-document relevance are described. The methods receive a keyword and a document as input and output a probability value for the keyword. The first method is a similarity-based approach which uses techniques for measuring similarity between two short-text segments to measure relevance between the keyword and the document. The second method is a regression-based approach based on an assumption that if an out-of-document phrase (the keyword) is semantically similar to an in-document phrase, then relevance scores of the in and out-of document phrases should be close to each other.

Abstract: Relational clustering has attracted more and more attention due to its phenomenal impact in various important applications which involve multi-type interrelated data objects, such as Web mining, search marketing, bioinformatics, citation analysis, and epidemiology. A probabilistic model is presented for relational clustering, which also provides a principal framework to unify various important clustering tasks including traditional attributes-based clustering, semi-supervised clustering, co-clustering and graph clustering. The model seeks to identify cluster structures for each type of data objects and interaction patterns between different types of objects. Under this model, parametric hard and soft relational clustering algorithms are provided under a large number of exponential family distributions.

Abstract: Systems and methods access non-compatible content repositories that are not natively accessible to a content management system. A metadata registry maintains metadata about content stored in both compatible and non-compatible repositories. For content in a non-compatible repository, the metadata indicates a repository interface capable of accessing the non-compatible repository. The content manager communicates with the repository interfaces to access the content in non-compatible repositories. The content manager may receive a request for content in a non-compatible repository, refer to the metadata registry to select a repository interface to employ, transmit a request for the requested content to the selected repository interface, and receive the requested content from the repository interface. A repository interface registry maintains information about available repository interfaces.

Abstract: A method of processing documents is described. The method includes the operation of receiving a document in a search engine crawler. The document includes an embedded first link tag. The first link tag includes one or more information pairs. A respective information pair includes a respective parameter and a corresponding value. The parameters in the one or more information pairs may correspond to content at one or more content locations or one or more document locations. The method also includes selecting a method of processing content associated with the first link tag in accordance with one or more of the information pairs.
