  • Patent number: 6091517
Abstract: An anchoring mechanism is disclosed for anchoring a carrier driving wire in an image processor. The wire is clamped between the carrier head of a set screw threaded into the carrier and thereby operatively connect the wire to the carrier. Such improved arrangement not only reduces the number of parts but also facilitates operation of anchoring the wire on the carrier. Specifically, bottom plate sections of a first carrier extend outward from longitudinally opposite ends of a groove serving to hold an illuminating lamp. Each of these bottom plate sections is formed with a bed plate section, which has a threaded hole formed through it. Wire retainer means is provided in proximity to the threaded hole. Upon insertion of the wire in the retainer means, the wire is sufficiently curved to generate a restoring force biasing itself to be pressed against the set screw. Then, as the set screw is threaded into the threaded hole the wire is clamped between the head of the set screw and the bed plate section.

  • Patent number: 6069715
Abstract: An image scanner capable of scanning double-sided documents or of being divided into two single-sided scanners includes a main body with an automatic document feeder and an image capture device, a base, and a flatbed scanner with its own image capture device. The main body can be secured either to the base, in which case a sheet fed single-sided scanner is formed, or to the flatbed scanner, in which case a double-sided scanner is formed. The automatic document feeder eliminates the need for a transparent document thin film guide by using the top surface of the base or of the flatbed scanner to guide a document past the image capture device and onto a guiding plate extending at a non-zero angle from the main body and into a groove in either the base or the flatbed scanner, the groove receiving the guiding plate so that the guiding plate extends into the path of the document to guide the document into an output tray.

  • Patent number: 6067174
Abstract: An improved image processor construction is disclosed in which a carrier driving electric motor is located in a housing of the image processor. Generally, a carrier mechanism is driven by an electric motor to scan an original and thereby to read an image on the original. According to the invention, the electric motor is disposed within a housing of the image processor so that any portions projecting outward from the housing can be eliminated and an outer size of the image processor can be correspondingly reduced. More specifically, a housing of the image processor includes a bottom plate having a downward recess and the electric motor is disposed within this downward recess. A loop of driving belt is draped on a driving pulley fixed around an output shaft of the electric motor, on one end, and on the longitudinal middle point of a driving shaft, on the other end, so as to transmit a rotation force of the electric motor to the driving shaft.

  • Patent number: 5995246
Abstract: In a digital copying mechine using a multi-beam optical system, first light receiving elements of a light beam detector placed on the extension of the surface of a photosensitive drum detects the positions of paths of scanning light beams in the sub-scanning direction. On the basis of the results of this detection, the amount of control for the position of the path of each light beam is calculated. Galvano mirrors, adapted to reflect the light beams onto the surface of the photosensitive drum, are driven accordingly, so that the paths of the light beams are properly positioned in the sub-scanning direction. Second light receiving elements of the light beam detector detect times at which the light beams move across the light beam detector. A sync clock is produced after a delay from when each light beam moves across the light beam detector.
