Patent number: 5122830Abstract: An image recording apparatus which records an image of an original document on an image receiving sheet with the use of a photosensitive recording medium, the image receiving sheet having front and rear faces differing in reflection ratio. To detect error in sheet face orientation, a sheet face sensor unit is provided upstream of a pressure developing unit which discriminates a face of the image receiving sheet. The sensor unit includes a light emitting element for emitting light toward the face of the image receiving sheet and a light receiving element for receiving light emitted from the light emitting element and reflected on the face of the image receiving sheet.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1991Date of Patent: June 16, 1992Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kanae Imaeda, Satoru Kuwabara, Yuji Asano, Hisanori Okamoto, Masatoshi Yoshiyama, Tsuyoshi Kushida, Yukichi Sawaki, Shin Asai, Masanari Kobayashi

Patent number: 5072642Abstract: A sound board incorporated in a musical instrument such as, for example, a piano or a string instrument comprises a wooden plate member containing wood fibers substantially oriented to a first direction, and a plurality of thread members fixed to at least one major surface of the wooden plate member at spacings and extending in directions substantially parallel to the first direction, in which the wooden plate member has a first modulus of longitudinal elasticity to a force exerted thereto in a direction substantially parallel to the first direction and in which each of the thread members has a second modulus of longitudinal elasticity larger than the first modulus of longitudinal elasticity so that the sound board is reinforced against a force in the direction substantially parallel to the first direction only, thereby allowing the sound board to produce a soft deep sound.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1990Date of Patent: December 17, 1991Assignee: Yamaha CorporationInventor: Katsuhiko Imagawa

Patent number: 4809079Abstract: A hand-held video recording camera includes a microphonic arrangement in or on the camera operatively arranged to receive sound from a subject or subjects within view of the lens for producing audio signals corresponding to the sound received. Means are provided within the camera for recording signals representing the image data and audio signals. A source of further audio signals is provided within the hand-held camera. Audio signal mixing means within the hand-held camera mix the audio signals corresponding to the sound received by the microphone arrangement and to the further audio signals from the internal source. The audio mixing means has its output coupled to the recording means so that signals representing the audio signals can be recorded, as well as signals representing image data.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1988Date of Patent: February 28, 1989Assignee: Leonard BloomInventors: John M. Patent number: 4323138Abstract: A loud speaker enclosure is disclosed in the preferred and illustrated embodiment. In this form, the upper end of the loud speaker enclosure is shaped in the form of an oval having a relatively narrow opening in one dimension which opening is relatively long in the other dimension. It is surrounded by an encircling shoulder which serves as a mounting plate. The housing flares downwardly and to a larger diameter matching that of a circle so that it can be connected to a speaker. Preferably, the circular end of the housing connects with the outer rim of a bass speaker. The shoulder at the oval end supports a tweeter. The shoulder is connected to the nether side of a package shelf, and the housing extends below the package shelf where greater room is obtained, enabling the larger woofer to be mounted with greater space for it.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1980Date of Patent: April 6, 1982Assignee: Horner IndustriesInventor: Larry D. Patent number: 4310771Abstract: In a typical power system, a motor bus is fed by a main power system; and, an auxiliary system is provided to alternatively feed the motor bus. When a fast transfer from the main power to the auxiliary power system is desired, for example, in case of fault occurring in the main system, the inventive method transfers power in a synchronous mode; that is, power is transferred from the auxiliary system to the motor bus when the phase difference of the auxiliary system with respect to the frequency of the residual voltage on the motor bus is essentially zero degrees.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1979Date of Patent: January 12, 1982Assignee: Beckwith Electric Co., Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Patent number: 4152068Abstract: Successive frames of a web of photographic color film are subjected to objective examination during transport through an automatic evaluating circuit which may constitute a discrete prereader or a prereader which is integrated into a copying machine upstream of the copying station. The prereader furnishes signals which represent color and/or density correction data for reproduction of those film frames which can be properly copied only with a setting of exposure controls which deviates from the average setting for copying of the majority of film frames. The objective examination of all film frames is followed by a subjective examination which is performed by an attendant who inspects at least some of those film frames whose examination by the prereader resulted in the generation of correction signals.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1976Date of Patent: May 1, 1979Assignee: Agfa-Gevaert AktiengesellschaftInventors: Horst Bickl, Gunter Findeis, Helmut Treiber, Wolfgang Zahn

Patent number: 3963914Abstract: A flashlight and writing implement combination wherein the device is interiorly illuminated, and ultimately conducts such illumination in either of two directions, depending upon on which end the cap of the implement is placed. The cap includes reflective means for reversing light-flow back through the light-conductive or translucent barrel, toward the end piece and to the writing tip itself, concentrically thereabout. Optionally, the cap is disposed on the reverse end, in which event the light is actuated to send illumination in the opposite direction, the device thereby serving as a flashlight. Aperture means may be provided the cap so that the usually provided clip can be depressed to actuate the pressure switch of the implement. The cap can be made of a resilient deformable plastic material so that by squeezing the same the pressure switch means of the implement may be actuated.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1975Date of Patent: June 15, 1976Inventors: Scott M. Browning, Gregory F. Klomp

Patent number: RE32183Abstract: A sound projection system comprising means defining a longitudinally extending acoustic channel which is acoustically open at a front end of the channel and acoustically closed at a rear end and at sides of the channel, a loudspeaker having a cone diaphragm operating into the channel at the rear end of the channel, and a longitudinally extending member mounted within the channel directly in front of, and in alignment with, the loudspeaker so as to restrict the free space within the channel, the cross-sectional area of said member varying along its length.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1983Date of Patent: June 17, 1986Assignee: Turbosound Group Ltd.Inventor: Timothy P.
