  • Patent number: 9782302
Abstract: A wetness sensor includes a substrate that carries a tuned RF circuit. The circuit includes a conductive pattern applied to the substrate, a capacitor, and a jumper all disposed on a same side of the substrate. The conductive pattern includes an inductive coil, and an inner and outer terminus. The jumper electrically couples the inner terminus to the outer terminus. The jumper also includes a frangible link which, when contacted by a target fluid, produces a drastic change in the operation of the RF circuit. The drastic change can be interpreted by a remote reader as a “wet” condition. Contact of the frangible link by the target fluid may change the impedance or resistance of the RF circuit by at least a factor of 5, 10, 100, or more, and/or may cause the frangible link to disintegrate to produce an open circuit, and/or may substantially render the RF circuit inoperative.

  • Patent number: 9786984
Abstract: An antenna having an elongated housing open at one end and defining an interior chamber. A telescoping mast has a carrier attached at a first end and a flexible antenna attached at its other end. The carrier with the attached mast and antenna is movable between a storage position in which the carrier, mast, and antenna are contained within the interior chamber of the housing, and a deployed position in which the mast and attached antenna protrude outwardly from the housing. A spring is positioned between the carrier and the housing which urges the carrier towards its deployed position. • Patent number: 9784105
Abstract: Disclosed is an offset rotational non-reciprocating-piston internal combustion engine in which an outer ring rotates on a one axis and an inner disk rotates on a second offset axis. Pistons are connected to the outer ring, while cylinders and other devices for operating the engine are mounted within an inner disk that rotates on a second axis that is offset from the axis of the outer ring. The inner disk and outer ring rotate together, such that the pistons create conditions of compression and explosive expansion within the cylinders without vibrating reciprocal piston motion. A unique fuel injection system is also disclosed that provides a variable fuel pressure that is created by centrifugal forces on the fuel. Because of the rotating inner disk and outer ring, advantages are taken of centrifugal force and gravity to distribute fuel, air, oil, high-voltage current, and cooling air in the engine.

  • Patent number: 9780453
Abstract: A method of configuring a small wireless communication system is described for body wearable applications where the radiated power from the antenna in the direction of the user is reduced. A method of coupling resonators, which are formed by planar conductors as well as linear conductors, is described where the resonators extend the electrical extent of the ground plane of a small circuit board resulting in improved antenna efficiency and bandwidth characteristics from an antenna coupled or connected to the ground plane. The resonators can be configured to modify the near-field distribution of the antenna radiation pattern of the antenna coupled to the small ground plane which will result in less power radiated in the volume behind the top surface of the ground plane the antenna is coupled to. A technique is also described wherein the antenna element is integrated onto the top surface of a packaged RFIC, with the RFIC containing the transceiver circuit.

  • Patent number: 9774093
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems for automated reflector tuning include combining high precision automated photogrammetric measurement with high precision servo actuator positioning control of a reflector surface using custom optimizing control software to produce a novel, fully automated satellite reflector alignment tuning system. Precise adjustment to the shape of the reflecting surface of an antenna reflector (reflector tuning) can be essential for a satellite reflector antenna to meet electrical performance requirements, usually requiring a shape accurate to within 0.004 inches RMS. The automated reflector tuning may include determining a set of characterization coefficients by precisely measuring the response of the reflector shape to actuator movements, and using the characterization coefficients in a mathematical analysis to determine optimal actuator movements to achieve a required shape of the reflector surface.

  • Patent number: 9772121
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for concentrating electromagnetic waves coming from a moving source at a focal point fixed to the ground. The invention discloses a tracking system for a device capable of concentrating incoming electromagnetic waves at a fixed focal point. This concentration of the electromagnetic waves may be done by reflection, as in the case of a reflecting dish, or by refraction as in the case of a concentrating lens, which is impeded in a hemisphere, which can be real or imaginary, such that its focal point coincides with the center of the hemisphere and using this apparatus to track such moving source by rotating around said hemisphere's fixed center, so as to face the incoming electromagnetic rays normally. A receiver can be kept at the focal point of the device which uses the concentrated rays for various applications such as melting metals or charging a solar cell.

  • Patent number: 9773203
Abstract: An RFID antenna structure for use with an RFID device is disclosed. A printed electronic circuit (PEC) is assembled onto an area of a conductor that is initially substantially flat, with minimal apertures cut into it. The substantially flat conductor makes the printing of the functional chip/circuit easier. Then, the conductor is cut post process with a laser or other cutting tool to create the interconnection. In another embodiment, the conductors of the PEC bridge the position where an aperture should be to create part of an RFID antenna. Further, the conductive layer and the PEC are then cut post process to create an antenna for the RFID device.
