  • Patent number: 9240111
Abstract: Inferring building metadata from distributed sensors is described. In an embodiment multiple sensors are situated at various locations in a building detecting physical quantities (e.g. light, heat, motion). The data from at least one sensor is analyzed in order to detect events occurring in proximity to the sensor. Data about an event detected at a first sensor is compared with events detected at other sensors in order to identify correlated events from which connections between the sensor locations can be inferred and a building layout generated. In some embodiments a threshold may be applied to the data in order to filter out false events. In some embodiments the building layout may be used as part of a building control system. In some embodiments the sensor data may be used to determine if the sensor has been moved.

  • Patent number: 9240117
Abstract: Medical devices and systems provide for detection of proper lead insertion by monitoring for electrical continuity between adjacent electrical contacts. The electrical contacts are spaced so that an electrical connector of a medical lead being inserted will span the distance between the electrical contacts and thereby maintain a physical connection with both electrical contacts at one time. Upon the medical device detecting that continuity is achieved between the adjacent electrical contacts, the medical device may provide an indication such as a visual and/or audible cue to a clinician who is inserting the lead and/or by providing a telemetry signal to an external device such as a programmer so that the programmer may then provide a visual and/or audible cue to a technician operating the programmer.

  • Patent number: 9153114
Abstract: Fall detection method and systems with its unique designed sensors are disclosed. The capacitive sensing based systems use the abrupt changes of the capacitance value to detect whether a real fall event happens, while the reed sensor/or reed switch based systems work in power saving passive mode to detect the real fall event by analyzing the binary “on/off” signal available from the reed sensor/or reed switch. Both rely on the orientation change of the host body respects to local gravity direction during the falling process. The system can present either as a standalone system or a built-in component with supporting software installed on other devices.
