  • Patent number: 11267940
Abstract: A method for producing aluminum oxide is provided. The method uses an aluminum-oxide-forming agent containing a partially hydrolyzed aluminum alkyl compound containing an aluminum trialkyl or a mixture thereof, and a solvent. It is thus possible to produce an aluminum oxide thin film or aluminum oxide particles on or in a substrate that is not resistant to polar solvents. A method of producing a polyolefin-based polymer nanocomposite containing zinc oxide particles or aluminum oxide particles using a solution containing a partially hydrolyzed zinc alkyl or a solution containing a partially hydrolyzed aluminum alkyl is also provided. The polyolefin-based polymer nanocomposite contains a polyolefin substrate and zinc oxide particles or aluminum oxide particles, and does not contain a dispersant. The zinc oxide particles or aluminum oxide particles have an average particle size of less than 100 nm.

  • Patent number: 11208351
Abstract: Electromagnetically-induced cement concrete crack self-healing diisocyanate microcapsules include raw materials, in parts by weight, comprising 15-55 parts of petroleum resin, 5-10 parts of paraffin, 5-10 parts of polyethylene wax, 3-10 parts of magnetic iron powder and 20-67 parts of diisocyanate. The diisocyanate microcapsules use the diisocyanate as a core material, and the petroleum resin/paraffin/polyethylene wax/magnetic iron powder mixture as the shell of the capsule. When micro cracks occur in the concrete, the crack propagation can break partial of the microcapsule inside, the diisocyanate inside the microcapsules flows out and diffuses into the crack and is subjected to a solidifying reaction with water in the concrete, so that the crack is repaired in time; and for the microcapsules that are not broken by cracks, external electromagnetic field can be applied to melt the shell to release the diisocyanate inside, thereby diffusing into cracks and solidify with water to repair them.

  • Patent number: 11161747
Abstract: Described are composite photonic materials that incorporate magnetic nanoparticles inside hollow or solvent-filled nano-scale or micro-scale shells and methods of making and using such composite photonic materials. When these photonic materials are present in a magnetic field, they exhibit a change in reflected, scattered, and/or transmitted light as compared to when the materials are not in the presence of the magnetic field. This results in the materials appearing to have a different color, such as when observed by the human eye or a light detecting device, such as a camera.

  • Patent number: 11098242
Abstract: Polymer coated proppants for hydraulic fracturing of oil and gas wells have an outer layer portion that comprises an organofunctional coupling agent, preferably an organofunctional silane coupling agent. The use of an organofunctional silane coupling agent in the outer layer portion of the proppant coating is preferably chosen to expose functionalities that will be reactive towards similar functionalities of adjacent and similarly coated proppants so that, when introduced downhole, these proppants form interparticle bonds at the temperatures and crack closure pressures found downhole in fractured strata. Such enhanced interparticle bonding helps keep the proppant in the fracture and maintains conductivity with reduced flowback. The invention also helps proppants designed for low temperature well to bond more firmly and allows proppants designed for high temperature wells to bond well even at lower downhole temperatures, thereby extending their useful range.
