  • Patent number: 9621510
Abstract: Components of a telephone system often do not evolve in lock-step with other system improvements. For a variety of reasons, a component in a system may be operational to enable telephone calls utilizing a particular dialing format but be inoperable for calls utilizing a different format. Telephone number formats were initially numeric. The number of digits and format of the digits was often determined based on a country-specific dialing plan. Many countries have moved to more digits or alphanumeric formats (e.g., URIs). By capturing these enhanced addresses and generating an associated unique identifier, internal networks may utilize legacy numbering systems internally and, once the call reaches an edge device, route them based upon the enhanced address.

  • Patent number: 9615279
Abstract: Techniques of enhanced listen-before-talk (LBT) at an Evolved NodeB (eNB) are discussed. An example apparatus within an eNB implementing such techniques comprises a receiver circuit, processor, and transmitter circuit. The receiver circuit is configured to receive a set of signals over a selected frequency band. The processor is configured to determine a subset of the set via an energy detection metric; determine, for each signal of the subset, whether that signal comprises one of a plurality of Long Term Evolution (LTE) reference signals (RSs); and implement a back-off procedure in response to a determination that at least one signal of the subset does not comprise one of the plurality of LTE RSs. The transmitter is configured to transmit a transmission comprising a first RS of the plurality of LTE RSs in response to a determination that each signal of the subset comprises one of the plurality of LTE RSs.

  • Patent number: 9608894
Abstract: Method for testing one or more of a group of radio frequency (RF) data packet signal transceiver devices under test (DUTs) with reduced signal interference from the remaining DUTs. A tester broadcasts a signal containing power control instructions about uplink signal power characteristics for communication with the tester. For example, for the LTE 3GPP standards, such characteristics could include power ramping step size, preamble initial received target power or maximum number of preamble transmissions for uplink signals transmitted from the DUTs. Following initiation of communication between the tester and one or more DUTs, the tester broadcasts a signal containing power control instructions to instruct the remaining DUTs to transmit any future signals with different uplink signal power characteristics.

  • Patent number: 9608909
Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes monitoring an egress port connected to a server to detect a traffic flow comprising a plurality of data packets and determining whether one of the packets is timeout dropped at the egress port. If at least one of the packets is timeout dropped at the egress port, the method further includes detecting a destination identifier (“DID”) of the timeout dropped packet and withdrawing a device identified by the detected DID from an FC zone to which it is assigned and reactivating the zone. The method further includes determining whether the traffic flow is experiencing high wait times at the egress port and, if the traffic flow is experiencing high wait times at the egress port, detecting the DID of the traffic flow and reducing a priority of the zone to which the detected DID is assigned and reactivating the zone.

  • Patent number: 9591515
Abstract: A method is provided of transporting data packets over a telecommunications transport network. The data packets are carried by a plurality of bearers, the bearers each carrying data packets that relate to different ones of a plurality of services. In the method, for each bearer independently of the other bearers, bandwidth profiling is applied to the data packets of the bearer to identify and mark the data packets of each of the bearers that are conformant with a determined maximum information rate for the bearer. The data packets are forwarded for transport through the transport network. If there is insufficient bandwidth available in the transport network to transport all data packets, data packets not identified by the profiling as being conformant are discarded, so as not to be transported through the transport network.

  • Patent number: 9572072
Abstract: In a communication system (100) where a wireless relay node (RN) (114) relays data packets between a Node B (112) and a user equipment (UE) (102), the RN receives (608) a data packet from the Node B via a first wireless link (115), conveys (614) the received data packet to the UE via a second wireless link (120), determines (616) whether the UE is likely to handoff, and in response to determining that the UE is likely to handoff, delays conveying (620, 622) an acknowledgment of the data packet to the Node B until an acknowledgment has been received from the UE. In another embodiment, the RN may use a status report (720) to inform the Node B of data packets that have not been transmitted to the UE or that have been transmitted to the UE but for which an acknowledgement has not been received from the UE.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a wireless communication device capable of establishing peer-to-peer connection passively or actively. The device conforms to an IEEE 802.11 standard, and comprises: a control block, a transmission circuit and a reception circuit. When the device intends to passively establish peer-to-peer connection, said control block generates a local-end peer-to-peer connection message which includes a local-end group owner intent but isn't generated in response to any known/detected device; said transmission circuit broadcasts a local-end peer-to-peer connection packet according to the message; and said reception circuit receives a connection-end peer-to-peer connection request from a connection-end for the first time after broadcasting the message, wherein the request includes a connection-end group owner decision related to the local-end group owner intent.

  • Patent number: 9559827
Abstract: A wireless device (105) for managing reporting of channel quality is configured to communicate with a mobile radio communication network (102). The wireless device (105) identifies (404) there being no downlink activity between the wireless device (105) and the mobile radio communication network (102). The wireless device (105) reduces (406), in response to the identification, a level of channel quality reporting when there is no downlink activity. In a multi Radio Access Bearer (RAB) scenario this supports reduction of a higher drop rate of multi-RAB, e.g. speech and data, compared to e.g. stand-alone speech RAB.

  • Patent number: 9544877
Abstract: A method and system of bearer management signalling in a communication network comprising of transporting bearer resource request message of both the UE and RN via DeNB to management entity of UE within EPC, as a signalling message over uplink channel referred to as “Union of Resource Request” (UR Request) message. The bearer resource response message from one of the management entity of UE or management entities of UE and RN within EPC are transported as a signalling message to Evolved Packet Edge (EPE) via DeNB over the downlink channel referred to as “Implicit Admission Response” (IA Response). This manages bearer setup signalling as a single loop, by transportation of ‘UR Request’ signalling message and receiving one “IA Response” signalling message over uplink and downlink channels respectively. EPE is a conglomeration of network nodes comprising of UEs, RNs and all other network nodes that communicate over EPC via DeNB.
