    Abstract: The present invention relates to a community security system capable of monitoring multiple, generally adjacent, consecutive private security areas to confirm human activity and engage sensory alerts. The community security system includes at least two private security areas having the capability of being networked together to enable information sharing. Each private security area is monitored by a private security system and contains one or more detection devices for monitoring and detecting activity occurring within the boundaries of the private security area. Information detected by detection devices within the private security areas can then communicate with other detection devices within the private security area or with the community security system to confirm activity, track activity across adjacent boundaries, engage sensory alerts and notify community members or authorities, as needed.

    Abstract: Embodiments herein describe techniques for operating lighting systems which can be used by associates who are colorblind or are susceptible to optically induced seizures (e.g., photosensitive epilepsy). In one embodiment, the lighting system includes programmable light sources which permit the lighting system to use colors that a colorblind person can easily distinguish—e.g., red, blue, orange, etc. Put differently, the lighting system can choose colors which are easily distinguishable to a colorblind associate when instructing the associate to take an action. Moreover, the lighting system can pulse a light source by changing its brightness or intensity over time. The lighting system can control a maximum gradient change rate and a maximum intensity change to mitigate a risk of optical seizures when pulsing the light sources to mitigate the risk of inducing a seizure.

The detection system commands spatially and temporally varying transmission of energy from the antenna array at a variety of powers and frequency settings. The detection system monitors the antenna array for a return signal resulting from the transmission. The return signal has a moisture status indicator which indicates whether or not liquid is present on the pad. The detection system also causes communication of a WET or DRY status to a destination. The reported WET or DRY status depends on the moisture status indicator.

    Abstract: A lifting vehicle has a lifting device movably mounted on a mast. Raising and lowering of the lifting device is controlled by a lift cylinder. A load monitor including a strain gauge is mounted on a bridge that is secured at each end to locations that are either on the chassis or on the mast. An indicator in communication with the load monitor can signal an output to an operator of the vehicle. As the strain gauge is secured to a load-stressed part of the vehicle, the load monitor is able to measure the stress being imposed on the vehicle. However, as the locations to which the ends of the bridge are secured are static with respect to one another, the readings are not distorted by torsional and shear forces. This enables the weight of a load and also the stability of the vehicle as a whole to be judged.
