Abstract: An improved corner wear guard that protects water troughs and will not become sharp when exposed to the rubbing motion of large animals, Further, the corner wear guard will not damage an animal's hide. This results in more valuable hides for the leather market. Additionally, the corner wear guard inhibits the formation of loose animal hair contaminants in the water troughs.

Abstract: The specification discloses a portable stock race and yard including a stock race supported on wheels and a plurality of wings swingably connected to the stock race and arranged to be folded out to form a stockyard. A tongue is pivotally mounted to the race so that the tongue can be moved out of the stock passageway defined by the race. Wing supports are pivotally connected to the sides of the race to support the wings when folded against the race. Further included are shields releasably mountable below the wings, when the wings are folded out to form the stockyard, to prevent small animals within the stockyard from passing under the wings. A wheel support assembly is provided to shift the wheels on either side of the trailer between transportation and retracted positions. A lever assembly is releasably mountable on the wheel support assembly to provide a mechanical advantage in moving that assembly.

Abstract: A leafcutter bee nesting box is formed from a mixture of sawdust and shredded paper such as newspaper or the like. A slurry formed of the sawdust, paper and water is placed into the mold box and subsequently removed therefrom with the resulting box having approximately 1100 cylindrical bee tunnels formed therein which extend between the front and back portions of the nesting box.

Abstract: A device for continuously feeding quail at graduated levels above the ground. Feed is made available from an adjustable opening in a feed bin situated over a ledge, which ledge serves to allow a quail to stand by the opening to eat. A flange above the ledge around the feed opening permits quail to reach the feed but prohibits larger animals from reaching the feed. By utilizing means to adjust the elevation of the ledge from the ground, the ledge may be progressively elevated until it is high enough to prevent rodents and other small crawling animals from reaching the feed while quail, now aware of the feed, fly to the ledge and feed.

Abstract: A toothbrush having a tapered tubular finger receptacle fits firmly on the user's fingertip. The toothbrush is stored in a compact case having an upper compartment for storage of the toothbrush, a lower compartment for storage of a solid bar of tooth or denture cleaning compound, and a hinged lid.

Abstract: A riser for a stock watering trough, the riser being adapted to be attached to a plastic pipe and having clamping means to clamp the riser to the end of the watering trough.

Abstract: A disposable litter box, "Kitty Pal", which is simple and inexpensive to fabricate. Unlike existing disposable kitty litter boxes it is made with one-piece construction. The kitty litter box is made of plastic or wax coated cardboard for moistureproofing. Finger sized semi-circular perforations are provided for easy removal of the top lid which serves a dual function. Besides acting as a top lid, the lid is coated on one side only so that it may be placed, absorptive side up, under the cat litter, thereby acting as an absorbant bottom liner. Since the top side of the lid is uncoated, it may be easily imprinted.

Abstract: A disposable container with litter for animals. The container includes a base containing absorbent particles and a lid shaped and dimensioned to be inverted and placed beneath the base to catch particles pawed from the container by an animal. The container causes an animal to utilize absorbent particles in the central portion of the container and to avoid using absorbent particles near the peripheral areas of the container.

Abstract: A surgical rasp for scraping and reshaping bones, particularly useful in cosmetic surgery, comprises a handle and a rasp surfaced insert made from a tungsten carbide attached thereto. The tooth pattern of the rasped surface is created by cutting a plurality of substantially parallel grooves into the insert and subsequently cross cutting a plurality of substantially parallel grooves thereto. Further cross-cuts can be made depending on the particular tooth pattern desired. In a preferred embodiment, the teeth so formed have a trapezoidal-shaped face and a trapezoidal-shaped back which are coextensively integral to create a cutting edge. In an alternate preferred embodiment, the teeth so formed are shaped as three-sided truncated pyramids.

Abstract: An extractor for extracting the prostatic endogland from the exogland is employed in a resectoscope comprising a outer sheath to be insertd into the urinary track, a slide member provided longitudinally slidably with respect to said sheath at the trailing end portion and a telescope to be inserted through forwards said slide member to the tip of sheath and inserted between the hypertrophied prostatic endogland and exogland to extract said endogland from the exogland.

Abstract: In determine and ascertain the physical state of birds and animals in a livestock raising establishment, the batches of such creatures are weighed at certain time intervals, the information on the weight of a bird or an animal is signalled to a computer and is stored in the memory of the latter, the average weight of a number of birds or animals is calculated which gives an indication of the physical state of the respective creatures. To practice the method a weighing apparatus is used including a weighing platform, a load cell attached to the said platform and being capable of converting the pressure of the load on the platform into an electric signal, and an electronic interface adapted to receive the signal and transmit it to a computer with wiring connecting the constituents of the system.

Abstract: A child restraint for restricting the distance a child can wander from a parent or attendant for use in connection with a conventional shopping cart. The restraint has a cable reel at one end which selectively pays out a length of tether cable. The reel is attachable to the frame of a shopping cart by a lock which may be released by the attendant or store personnel. The opposite end of the tether cable is attached to a harness or cuff which may be attached about the child and locked in place by a key or combination lock. In the preferred embodiment, the harness is secured about the child by a combination lock which carries indicia which in the correct combination for opening the lock spell out a simple word which may be easily memorized by the user.

Abstract: A shellfish cultivator in which shellfish such as bivalve mollusks, e.g, oysters, can grow to maturity, e.g., in a pond or closed water system or in open waters, includes a screened-in housing which provides a plurality of horizontal slideways, these slideways including at least one upper slideway and a lowermost slideway, and a plurality of drawers which are slidable along the slideways, the drawers slidable in the upper slideways being drop drawers and the drawer slidable in the lowermost slideway being a bottom receiving drawer. Each drop drawer includes a floor that includes rotatable, perforated louvers and a control rod which is rotatable from outside the housing and which can control the orientation of the louvers so as to determine whether the floor is open or closed. When the floor of each drop drawer is opened the shellfish thereon will fall onto the floor of the drawer therebelow and when closed will retain the shellfish therein for growth.

A second member (12) is pivotally mounted to one end of the first member (11) by a hinge (13) and is movable to a first position closing each recess (15). A retaining means (14) is adapted to engage the first and second members (11, 12) when the second member (12) is in the closed position. The legs of an animal are intended to be received in the recesses (15) and retained therein by the second member (12) when the latter is in the closed position.

Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for the operation of a chicken brooder plant with trestles for accommodating the eggs to be incubated arranged on a cart, said trestles being arranged in several tiers over one another in a cart, with the carts being conveyed continuously through a brooding oven with ventilation of the individual trestles being accomplished over one half the path of the cart from one side of the cart, and on the other half of the path of the cart from the other side of the cart. Furthermore, the invention concerns a slip incubator with a slip incubator cart capable of traveling inside the slip incubator, and with circulating conveyor belts arranged on the slip incubator cart.

Abstract: An automatic self-cleansing system for dispensing nutrient liquids to suckling animals is described. The system includes a liquid delivery system which can be selectively activated to dispense a number of liquids including a nutrient liquid composed for example of powdered milk and food additives mixed with water, a liquid detergent for cleansing and a rinsing liquid (most conveniently water) for rinsing of residual nutrient liquid or liquid detergent. Solenoid valves actuated by a preprogramed controller release the liquid appropriate to each nursing, cleansing and rinsing phase of operation to a conduit which conveys the liquid to a remotely located nursing device, which might be located in a pen confining the animals. The nursing device has a number of artificial nipples, and a liquid distribution system which includes a multiplicity of reservoirs corresponding in number to the artificial nipples.

Abstract: A cage has a rectangular bottom member and four side members. Four top members each having a truncated triangular shape are connected to the top frame. A top locking member is connected to the truncated triangular members to hold them in place when they are rotated into up position whereby the top panels can be folded down against the inside of the side panels to permit easy cleaning of the cage folded flat for shipping.

Abstract: A versatile grooming and treatment applicator includes a circular housing for containing a liquid or powder, for example, for skin treatment, or insecticide, or a shampoo, with the housing including a flat circular face with a peripheral lip and several spaced openings extending through the face. Several alternative applicator face plates or heads are provided, with each having a brush, sponge, or other similar surface for engaging the hair, and with the face plates carrying nozzles extending for a distance substantially equal to the extremity of the brush or sponge, for example, and overlying the spaced openings. The nozzles may be selectively sealed, or opened to mate with the opening in the housings, by rotation of the face plates using an actualator lever. Arrangements are provided for rotatably and removably holding the face plates or heads on to the housing, for securing a strap to the housing for extending around the back of a person's hands, and for filling the housing with fluid or powder.
