Abstract: There is provided a ferroelectric thin-film laminated substrate, including a substrate, and further including a lower electrode layer, a ferroelectric thin-film layer, an upper electrode intermediate layer, and an upper electrode layer being sequentially stacked on the substrate, in which: the lower electrode layer is made of platinum or a platinum alloy; the ferroelectric thin-film layer is made of a sodium potassium niobate (typical chemical formula of (K1-xNax)NbO3, 0.4?x?0.7); the upper electrode layer is made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy; the upper electrode intermediate layer is made of a metal that has less oxidizability than titanium and can generate an intermetallic compound with Aluminum; and a part of the upper electrode intermediate layer and a part of the upper electrode layer are alloyed.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition comprising: a) an aqueous dispersion of i) polymer particles functionalized with structural units of a phosphorus acid monomer; and ii) TiO2 particles; b) a sulfur acid functionalized dispersant; and c) a carboxylic acid functionalized dispersant. The composition of the present invention addresses a need in the art by providing a way to tune TiO2-binder composite formation efficiency with relative ease.

Abstract: A catalytic nanoparticle can include a nanodiamond core, a thin-layer polymeric film applied to an outer surface of the nanodiamond core, and a catalyst immobilized at an outer surface of the thin-layer polymeric film. Abstract: An adhesive composition for a polarizing plate is adapted to exhibit a variation in relaxation modulus of an adhesive layer in a range of 75% to 95% before and after leaving the same at a temperature of ?20° C. to 0° C. for 4 hours, such that it is possible to remarkably improve thermal-shock durability of the polarizing plate, and suppress a damage of the polarizing plate in a thermal-shock durability test, while maintaining excellent adhesiveness.
Abstract: Crosslinkable polymeric compositions comprising (a) 10 to 89 weight percent of an ethylene-based interpolymer having the following properties: (i) a density of 0.93 g/cm3 or less, (ii) a high-shear viscosity (V100) at 190 C and 10% strain of 1,200 Pa·s or less, (iii) a shear thinning ratio (V0.1/V100) at 190 C and 10% strain of at least 8, and (iv) a melt index (I2) greater than 1 g/10 minutes; and (b) 10 to less than 90 weight percent of a filler, where the ethylene-based interpolymer is not prepared in a high-pressure reactor. Such crosslinkable polymeric compositions may be employed as insulation layers in flexible power cables.

Abstract: Textile fabrics consolidated with a binder that is made from a binder system are described. The binder system may include: a) 30% or less by dry weight of at least one polymer based on polyvinyl alcohol; b) 70% or more by dry weight of at least one starch, wherein the at least one starch comprises 50% by weight or more of one or more natural starches based on the total weight of the at least one starch; c) 0 to 10% by dry weight of at least one crosslinker; d) 0 to 10% by dry weight of at least one filler; and e) 0 to 10% by dry weight of at least one additive, wherein a sum of components a) through e) is 100% by dry weight of the binder system. Method of making the textile fabrics consolidated with binders made from the binder systems are also described.
Abstract: A pre-filled syringe having containing therein at least one therapeutic is provided. The syringe contains a silicone free barrel and an elastomeric syringe stopper that is covered with an expanded polytetrafluoroethylene barrier layer. The presence of a barrier layer that is at least partially porous on the outside of the syringe stopper improves the seal between the stopper and syringe barrel and minimizes the sliding force. In some embodiments, the barrel is formed of a glass material such as a borosilicate glass, that is free of silicone or other lubricants.

Abstract: This invention relates to improved adhesion compositions and textile materials and articles treated therewith. The improved adhesion composition comprises a non-crosslinked resorcinol-formaldehyde and/or resorcinol-furfural condensate (or a phenol-formaldehyde condensate that is soluble in water), a rubber latex, and an aldehyde component such as 2-furfuraldehyde. Abstract: A composite comprising a combination of a self-healing polymer matrix and a carbon fiber reinforcement is described. In one embodiment, the matrix is a polybutadiene graft copolymer matrix, such as polybutadiene graft copolymer comprising poly(butadiene)-graft-poly(methyl acrylate-co-acrylonitrile). A method of fabricating the composite is also described, comprising the steps of manufacturing a pre-impregnated unidirectional carbon fiber preform by wetting a plurality of carbon fibers with a solution, the solution comprising a self-healing polymer and a solvent, and curing the preform. A method of repairing a structure made from the composite of the invention is described. A novel prepreg material used to manufacture the composite of the invention is described.
