Abstract: The disclosure provides embodiments of environmentally acceptable fishing lines or fishing nets. Embodiments of the disclosed fishing line or net may comprise a degradable polymer having components derived from i) biomass sources, ii) protein, fatty acid or lipid sources, iii) microbial-based monomers and polymers, iv) agro-based monomers and polymers, v) sugar or starch based monomers and polymers, or combinations thereof, as well as fishing lines and nets that further comprise an additive having components derived from i) polyol sources, ii) citrate sources, iii) fatty acid sources, iv) biomass oil sources, or combinations thereof. Some of the embodiments of the disclosed fishing lines or nets may have a suitable fiber core, while other embodiments of the disclosed fishing lines or nets are degradable over a predetermined period of time. The disclosed embodiments are preferred because of the low environmental impact of the disclosed fishing lines or nets.
Abstract: A biobased additive is provided that is both a nucleating and a reinforcing agent when added to thermoplastic polyester (e.g., biopolyesters). A composite material, which is an additive-reinforced biopolyester, was prepared and improved thermo-mechanical properties were quantified. This composite material is a new class of biobased material that offers a sustainable, environmentally-friendly solution for packaging and other applications.

The fluorine-containing silicon compounds include a fluorine-containing (poly)ether moiety, a hydrolytic silane moiety, and a linking group between the fluorine-containing (poly)ether moiety and the hydrolytic silane moiety. Abstract: Disclosed are aromatic enol ethers that have utility as film-hardening additives for coating formulations. The aromatic enol ethers have particular utility as film-hardening additives for water-based coating formulations. The aromatic enol ethers provide improvements in hardness and hardness related properties such as block resistance without contributing to the volatile organic content of the composition.
Abstract: The present invention is a composition of (a) a coating base selected from a water-dispersed coating, an epoxy polymer coating, an alkyd coating, a Type I urethane coating, or an unsaturated polyester coating; and (b) a fluorinated ester compound having a plurality of fluoroalkyl thioether groups, wherein the number average molecular weight of the fluorinated ester compound is ?30,000 Da; and where the fluorinated group Rf is independently a straight or branched perfluoroalkyl group of 2 to 20 carbon atoms, which is optionally interrupted by one or more CH2, CFH, ether oxygens —O—, or combinations thereof. The fluorinated ester compounds provide cleanability to the resulting coating made from the present composition.

Abstract: Provided herein is a formulation containing a PPG/PEG block-copolymer (I) on average having PEG-blocks in the range of 37-45 terminated on both sides with on average in the range of 6-11 PPG blocks. The PPG/PEG block-copolymer can be end capped with hydrocarbon systems like for example n-butyl. The PPG/PEG block-copolymer (I) is chosen to have a DSC-melting point according to DIN ISO 11357 in the range of 15-37° C. to provide for a cool touch effect and can be applied without encapsulation. Furthermore uses of such a formulation and textiles treated with such a formulation are proposed.
