  • Patent number: 8527511
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a calculation unit, an information selection unit and an information retrieval unit. The calculation unit calculates a retrieval target level for each information based on time from when the information was stored in the past to the present. The retrieval target level for each information is used to determine as to whether or not each information is set as a retrieval target. The information selection unit selects some of the pieces of information as the retrieval targets based on the retrieval target levels calculated by the calculation unit. The information retrieval unit retrieves the some of the information selected by the information selection unit.

  • Patent number: 8463783
Abstract: An ad-selection analysis subsystem (“analysis subsystem”) analyzes advertisement selection data to identify relevant queries for advertisements. Advertisement selection data for each advertisement in a set of advertisements are represented as a vector of terms corresponding to search queries for which the corresponding advertisement was provided with search results and, in turn, selected by a user. A clustering algorithm is applied to the advertisement selection data for the set of advertisements to identify clusters of search queries and corresponding clusters of advertisements. Identified clusters can be used, for example, to facilitate query expansion, advertisement selection, and keyword generation.

  • Patent number: 8457943
Abstract: Techniques for simulating a multiprocessor system. Aspects of the present invention are based on such an observation that most memory accesses from different simulated processors do not conflict, and therefore the conservative policy for performing synchronization of all the memory accesses can waste a large amount of processing time. By identifying possibly conflicting memory accesses and only performing synchronization of these memory accesses, the synchronization cost can be reduced considerably. Since the function simulator is able to operate faster and to perform the same memory accesses, the possibly conflicting memory accesses can be identified by first executing the function simulator.

Abstract: Systems and method to aid in the collection, representation and mining of data are disclosed. More particularly, embodiments as disclosed may utilize a unifying format to represent data obtained or utilized by a system to facilitate linking between data from different sources and the commensurate ability to mine such data. Specifically, embodiments may represent data as graphs that comprise the concepts and relationships between those concepts. In this manner, concepts in graphs that represent distinct groupings of data may be mapped and knowledge mining with respect to these graphs facilitated.

  • Patent number: 8423554
Abstract: Systems, methods and computer program products are provided for assigning content category scores to nodes of a linked database. The nodes of the linked database include linking nodes and linked nodes. Each linking node is assigned a linking node score for each content category. The linking node score for each content category represents a degree of relevancy of the linking node to the content category. Each of the linked nodes is linked to by at least one of the linking nodes. Each linked node is assigned a content category score for each content category. The content category score for each content category is based on the linking node score for said content category of each linking node that links to the linked node.

  • Patent number: 8412684
Abstract: An information creating apparatus creates a leaf page information including one or more records with a key information to be compared with a retrieval key information inputted for retrieval of a record. The apparatus creates, based on the key information of the record included in the leaf page information, a judgment information used to judge a possibility that the leaf page information located in a position of child of the node page information located between the root and leaf page informations, and in lower positions than it, includes the record to be retrieved with the retrieval key information, and creates the node page information including the judgment information. The apparatus creates the root page information including the judgment information included in the node page information located in the positions of the child of the root page information, and stores the root, node and leaf page informations in a tree structure.

  • Patent number: 8271432
Abstract: A method and apparatus for calculating a score for word selection, which may be used to preprocess sets of words prior to a dimensionality reduction process, employs information about relationships between words themselves (such as synonym relationships) or relationships between items with which the words are associated (such as products in a catalog). In some embodiments, the relationships are also community based; i.e., the relationships are established by a community of users. The relationships may be references to two or more word sets in which the word of interest is common. In one embodiment, the word sets are descriptions of products in an online catalog, the community is the group of people who view the catalog, and the relationships used for calculating the score for a particular word of interest are coreferences (e.g., viewing or purchasing) of pairs of products for which the catalog descriptions both include the particular word.

  • Patent number: 8229726
Abstract: An object-oriented software analysis framework is provided for enabling software engineers and hardware engineers to gain insight into the behavior of software applications on emerging hardware platforms even before the hardware is fabricated. In this analysis framework, simulation data containing instruction, address and/or hardware register information is sent to interchangeable and parameterizable analyzer and profiler modules that decode the data and perform analysis of the data according to each module's respective analysis function. This detailed analysis is performed by constructing a tree of such modules through which the data travels and is classified and analyzed or filtered at each level of the tree.

  • Patent number: 7912694
Abstract: According to a method of simulation processing, one or more HDL source files describing a digital design including a plurality of hierarchically arranged design entities are received. The one or more HDL source files include one or more statements instantiating a plurality of print events within the plurality of hierarchically arranged design entities, where each print event has an associated message and at least one associated signal in the digital design. The one or more HDL source files are processed to obtain a simulation executable model including a data structure describing the plurality of print events defined for the simulation executable model and associating each of the plurality of print events with its respective associated signal.

  • Patent number: 7818160
Abstract: A data backup system comprises an emulation component and a storage device having logical storage areas. The emulation component is configured to represent a first logical storage area of the storage device, such as a solid state memory or a disk drive partition, as if it were an auto-launch device. Accordingly, a data source, such as a personal computer, will interact with the first logical storage area as if it were the auto-launch device. As some operating systems are configured to recognize auto-launch devices upon connection and automatically execute applications stored thereon, merely connecting the data backup system to a data source running such an operating system can cause a backup application stored by the first logical storage area to automatically execute on the data source to selectively back up data to a second logical storage area of the storage device.

  • Patent number: 7813913
Abstract: An emulation component for a data backup system is provided. The emulation component represents a storage device, such as a flash memory device or a partition of a disk drive, as if it were an auto-launch device, that will trigger applications to execute automatically. Accordingly, other computing systems, such as personal computers, interact with the storage device, through the emulation component, as if the storage device were the auto-launch device. Because the emulation component makes this representation, merely connecting the emulation component between the storage device and the computing system can cause a backup application stored on the storage device to automatically execute on the computing system. A data backup appliance including an emulation component and a storage device is also provided. The backup system can also include an interface for connecting another removable device, such as a disk drive, for storing backup content from the data source.

  • Patent number: 7668705
Abstract: A technique that improves large-eddy simulation consists in replacing the instantaneous sub-grid scale eddy-viscosity (such as the dynamic Smagorinsky model eddy-viscosity) in the near-wall region with an eddy-viscosity computed from Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes eddy-viscosity and corrected dynamically using the resolved turbulent stress. The near-wall eddy-viscosity formulation is applied either with a wall stress model on coarse grids that do not resolve the wall or with wall-resolved grids coarsened in the wall-parallel directions. Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes eddy-viscosity is computed either from a look-up table or from a simultaneous solution of a Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes turbulence model.
