  • Patent number: 9265048
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate indicating a dominant interferer to a target serving base station in a wireless communication environment. A mobile device can detect presence or absence of a dominant interferer. Further, an access probe that includes information related to the presence or absence of the dominant interferer can be generated. For example, the information can be included in a payload of the access probe as an explicit flag, an explicit indication of an interference level, a Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) value (e.g., reserved versus non-reserved, . . . ), etc. Moreover, the access probe can be transmitted to the target serving base station to initiate an access procedure. The target serving base station can select a time-frequency resource to be utilized for a responsive downlink transmission (e.g. access grant signal, subsequent access related message, . . . ) as a function of the information included in the access probe.

  • Patent number: 9113363
Abstract: Provided is a home network system in which an appropriate mobility anchor is allocated for a mobile node and the number of mobility anchors can be reduced. A subscriber information accumulation server (14) accumulates first communication load prediction data for each time of a mobile node (32). An anchor information accumulation server (15) accumulates second communication load prediction load for each time of each mobility anchor (11). When “a mobility anchor allocation request” is transmitted from the mobile node (32) to an anchor allocation server (13), the anchor allocation server (13) adds the first communication load prediction data and the second communication load prediction load data so as to obtain third communication load prediction data.

  • Patent number: 9112878
Abstract: A system and method for hand-off maintenance is disclosed. The present invention relates to communication networks and particularly, to network interfaces in communication networks. In existing hand-off mechanisms, when a restart occurs in a Media Gateway, the Media Gateway always tries to register back to the primary Media Gateway Controller, which is under maintenance. As the primary Media Gateway Controller cannot address the request, calls running on the Media Gateway will be affected leading to abrupt release of calls. The method provides a solution to the problem by rejecting service requests from the Media Gateway that are already handed off at the Media Gateway. Further, at Media Gateway level not to register requests to the primary Media Gateway Controller, when a primary Media Gateway Controller is under maintenance. When the primary Media Gateway Controller is under maintenance, requests are directed to the secondary Media Gateway Controller.

  • Patent number: 8203947
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for interlaced control channel. When a RAN in a wireless communication system operating at least according to IS-856 determines that a delay condition exists in the transmission of control packets to access terminals, it invokes interlacing of time slots bearing control-channel data. By so doing, control packets are transmitted in interlaced fashion, thereby reducing delay in transmission compared with sequential transmission of control packets. A delay condition could correspond to a measured delay exceeding a threshold delay, a predicted delay (e.g., based on queue occupancy) exceeding a threshold number, or the number of access terminals eligible to receive control messages during a particular time interval exceeding a different threshold number.

  • Patent number: 8175003
Abstract: When it is advantageous to do so, a wireless LAN station sends data packets to a destination station via an intermediate station, instead of to the destination station directly. That is, the intermediate station, which serves as a helper to the source, forwards packets received from the source station to the intended destination station. This cooperative data transmission approach can result in system performance improvement, as long as the total time consumed by two-hop transmission (i.e., transmission via the helper station) is less than direct transmission. Such a determination may be made using rate information stored at each station. Specifically, using the rate information, signaling needed to set up a transmission, the amount of data to be transmitted, etc., transmitting the data directly and via a help station may be compared.

  • Patent number: 8170023
Abstract: A method of sending data through a network from a first computing device to a second computing device is described, where the computing devices adhere to a packet-based network protocol. A connection between the first computing device and the second computing device is established for a session according to the network protocol. A packet header template is defined having a plurality of static fields filled with static values valid for all packets sent during the session and variable fields that can acquire packet-dependent values for different packets sent during a session. A packet header is created based on the header template by defining, in a central processing unit, at least one value of a variable field and by reusing the static values for the static fields. The packet header is pre-pended to payload data to form a packet, and the packet is sent to the second computing device.

  • Patent number: 8169885
Abstract: A cross-layer optimization framework for designing of multi-radio/multi-channel wireless mesh networks with network coding to support multiple unicast applications is used. A column-generation-based primal-dual method is used to solve the optimization problem. For network-layer formation, a code construction scheme based on linear programming is used. Delay constraints are imposed on the network code construction so the possible impact of the extra decoding delay to the upper-layer Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) performance may be reduced without changing the upper-layer protocols.

  • Patent number: 8170024
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for implementing a pointer and stake model for frame alteration code in a network processor. A current pointer and a stake are provided for a packet selected for transmit. The current pointer is maintained for tracking a current position for frame alteration operations in the packet. The stake is maintained for tracking a start of a current header for frame alteration operations in the packet. The current pointer is used by frame alteration code instructions to specify a sequence of operations relative to the current pointer. The specified frame alteration sequence is compact in terms of code size to operate on data within a small window of bytes. Advance pointer instructions allow the current and stake pointers to be advanced an arbitrary number of bytes into the packet.
