Abstract: In a slitter, the combination comprises a blade having a cutting edge; a holder for the blade, including a handle, and a terminal on the handle retaining the blade with the blade edge protruding; a shield carried by the holder proximate the terminal, for movement between extended position in which the blade is protected, and retracted position in which the blade edge is exposed for cutting, there being a torsion spring carried by the holder and having an arm biasing the shield toward extended position, the spring arm projecting in a hollow defined by the shield; and the shield extending parallel to the blade, at opposite sides thereof.
Abstract: Ceramic blade (1) of a cutting tool, in particular a knife, with a cutting edge (10) and a rounded off upper edge (12) running opposite to the cutting edge (10). The rounded off upper edge (12) makes possible, in comparison to the conventional sharp-edged transitions, a substantial increase in the break resistance in the case of bending forces.
Abstract: Dry-shaving apparatus comprises a drive provided in a housing (1) and at least two parallel shaving units (13, 14, 15), each having a respective outer cutter (16, 17, 20), an inner cutter (21, 22, 34) and at least one biasing element (31, 32, 33, 45). In order to improve contact with the face during use, the biasing element (31, 32) of one shaving unit (13, 14 15) has a characteristic which differs from that of the biasing element (33) of a further shaving unit (13, 14, 15), which characteristic is such that under the effect of a force applied externally to the shaving units (13, 14, 15), motion can be performed by said one of the shaving units (13, 14, 15) relative to the further shaving unit (13, 14, 15).

Abstract: A scraping tool employing a sharp-edged blade such as a wallpaper shaving blade, utility or razor blade; comprising an integral body and handle, a controllable quick-release blade clamp and latching level to lock and unlock the clamp for access to the blade. Both the clamp and lever are pivotably connected to the body/handle component using the "snap-fit" technique. The tool includes an integral resilient member for maintaining the clamp closed whenever the tool is unlocked, such that the blade will be retained at all times, until the clamp is purposefully actuated by the user for installation or removal of the blade.

Abstract: A cutting guide attachment for an electric knife including a plastic housing having an inboard portion for attaching the handle to an electric knife. It also includes an outboard portion operatively positioned to the reciprocating blades of the electric knife. The housing has first inverted U-shaped fingers ascending downwardly from the end of the outboard portion of the housing and second inverted U-shaped fingers extending downwardly from an intermediate region of the outboard portion of the housing. The first and second fingers have exterior arcuate recesses on one face thereof. A plurality of rollers is included having varying sizes positionable in nesting relationship one within the other. The interiormost roller has an extended length to be received within the recesses, whereby any number of nested rollers may be received upon the innermost roller for providing a surface of a predetermined diameter for rolling across the food to be sliced.
Abstract: A utensil for cutting an impaling food objects. The inventive device includes an elongated handle having a plurality of tines projecting therefrom. Lateral cutting edges extend along interior edges of the tines for engaging and cutting a food object such that a severed portion thereof can be engaged by the tines for manual manipulation by the handle.
