  • Patent number: 9798794
Abstract: Techniques are provided for maintaining data persistently in one format, but making that data available to a database server in more than one format. For example, one of the formats in which the data is made available for query processing is based on the on-disk format, while another of the formats in which the data is made available for query processing is independent of the on-disk format. Data that is in the format that is independent of the disk format may be maintained exclusively in volatile memory to reduce the overhead associated with keeping the data in sync with the on-disk format copies of the data.

  • Patent number: 8108365
Abstract: A database management system for determining consistency in a hierarchical database sequentially reads pointers of a plurality of segment data, generates an address hash value, which is a hash value of retention addresses of the segment data having been read, generates a pointer hash value, which is a hash value of the pointers included in the segment data having been read, corrects the address hash value, when the contents of the address already read is updated, based a retention address of segment data added or deleted by the update, corrects the pointer hash value based on each pointer changed by the update, and determines that the hierarchical database is consistent if the corrected address hash value coincides with the corrected pointer hash value.

  • Patent number: 8065612
Abstract: There is provided a display system including a display apparatus and an information processing apparatus. The display apparatus includes a file identifier storing section that stores thereon a file identifier, a display's communicating section that transmits the file identifier to the information processing apparatus, and receives file data, and a display section that displays thereon the file data. The information processing apparatus includes a file data obtaining section that obtains the file data identified by the file identifier, and transmits the obtained file data to the display apparatus, a file data opening control section that opens the file data to enable the user to edit or view the file data, and a file data closing control section that closes the file data to prohibit the user from editing or viewing the file data, when no access is made to the file data for a predetermined time period.

  • Patent number: 7836431
Abstract: To implement pipelining, data from a first test written in a DBMS procedural language (such as PL/SQL) is automatically passed to a second test which may or may not be in the same language. A user creates a container test to identify names of the two tests, and adds one or more procedure(s) with predetermined name(s), to identify dependencies between the tests. In the first test, to supply data for the second test, the user includes one or more additional procedure(s) of predetermined name(s), to support an interface to a runtime data store. The second test reads data from the runtime data store. In certain embodiments, an adapter extracts test names from the container test and uses each name to create an object for each test, and during execution of methods in each object a database call is issued.

  • Patent number: 7831474
Abstract: Methods and systems for associating an unbidded term with a bidded term and for pricing search terms. The method for associating an unbidded term with a bidded term comprises selecting a first set of search engine results for the unbidded term, selecting a second set of search engine results for the bidded second term, comparing the first and second sets, and associating the unbidded term with at least one bidded term based on the results of comparing. The method for assigning monetary values to search terms comprises receiving bids for a first term, deriving a similarity function between the first and second term and pricing the second term based upon the derived similarity function and the bid on the first term.
