  • Patent number: 9856993
Abstract: A valve device includes a valve having an electrodynamic actuator. The electrodynamic actuator includes a movably mounted control element having a coil and a magnet arrangement immovable relative to the coil. A driving force caused by energization of the coil and transmitted to the control element substantially is linearly dependent on the current intensity. A front-end electronic unit is connected with the coil and includes a capacitor connected in parallel to the coil. A method for controlling a valve as mentioned above provides that, upon actuation of the electrodynamic actuator, during energization of the coil by a voltage source, a capacitor connected in parallel to the coil is charged. After termination of the energization by the voltage source, the coil is energized further by a discharge of the capacitor.

  • Patent number: 9803774
Abstract: A motion conversion device is disclosed for converting motion in one direction into motion in another direction. The motion conversion device may include a single-acting cylinder hydraulically or pneumatically coupled to a double-acting cylinder such that movement of the single-acting cylinder along an axis causes movement of the double-acting cylinder along a non-parallel axis. The single-acting cylinder may be mechanically coupled to another single-acting cylinder such that movement of one of the single-acting cylinders in a direction causes movement of the other one of the single-acting cylinders in an opposite direction. In this way, the single-acting cylinders may cooperate to provide reciprocal motion of the double-acting cylinder. Also disclosed is a valve incorporating a motion conversion device for the purpose of moving a closure member between an open position and a closed position. Furthermore, a method for operating a valve closure member with a motion conversion device is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9784224
Abstract: A valve assembly for an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system which provides emission control, regulates flow of exhaust gases, and is suitable for gasoline or diesel applications. The EGR valve assembly is a latching valve assembly which reduces power consumption (i.e., continuous electric draw) from the battery while the valve is either being held open or closed, and reduces electrical interference inherent with integrated position sensors. The valve assembly includes a latching mechanism controlled by an actuator which allows a valve to latch open or closed. The valve may be a single stage valve or a multi-stage valve, which includes a latching mechanism that allows for intermediate open positions, and uses of only a short, single pulse of voltage, to change the state of the valve. The actuator may also be held energized at full extend, maintaining a maximum valve open position, creating additional flow capability of the valve assembly.

Abstract: Exemplary illustrations of a fluid valve, e.g., a return valve for returning residual paint, rinsing agent, and compressed air from a paint line when changing color in a painting system, are disclosed. An exemplary fluid valve may be adjusted between an open position, in which the fluid valve is at least partially open, e.g., for rinsing a paint line with a rinsing agent and for pressurizing the paint line with a new color for the color change, and a closed position, in which the fluid valve is closed, e.g., for applying the new color after the color change. An exemplary fluid valve may switch to the closed position, upon actuation by the medium thereof, e.g., medium flowing through or present in the valve. In another example, a fluid valve may close depending on the fluid present at the input side.
