Abstract: A method and apparatus for improvement of computer-related products to solve problems caused by artificially embedded locks, barriers, defects, and the like, that force a consumer to needlessly upgrade hardware or software on a computer. An independent developer may procure access to a product, develop a testing regimen for functionality of the product, and perform evaluations to identify sources of any operational defects found. Accordingly, the developer may then provide a generalized testing regimen to test instances of product provided by a supplier, identify those containing the flaw, and may optionally provide a solution to the flaw, where practicable. The independent developer may obtain intellectual property rights in the testing, solution or both for the product. Thus, by notifying a supplier, an independent developer may become a supplier of testing or solution systems, motivating a supplier by one of several mechanisms.

Abstract: The present invention provides systems and methods for processing foreign origin parcels through Customs and individuals through security checkpoints. The system includes a database stored on a computer readable medium having data records associated with each foreign origin parcel or individual. Associated with the database is a processor having a search engine for performing searches on the information in the data records based on criteria selected by a user. The system further includes an interface. The interface allows the user to select search criteria to be used by the processor to search the data records. The interface displays the results of the search to the user and allows the user to select parcels or individuals identified during the search for inspection. In addition, the processor and interface allows the user to electronically store notes taken during the inspection, such that the information related to the inspection can be electronically archived.

Abstract: An automated unified pricing method and system that allow companies to precisely calculate the price of a combination of products and/or services when those products or services are offered together in a bundle for a unified price are described. This methodology applies to the situation where there is some observable or predicted market value to the bundle elements sold individually, or to bundles which are a subset of a larger bundle being contemplated. The method and system determine linked usage correlation values to determine a core product of a pool of candidate products. The selection of the core product is maximized or optimized by eliminating substitutes from the pool and recalculating the linked usage correlation values. The unified price is calculated by multiplying the price (retail price) of each individual candidate product by the correlation coefficient related to the joint relationship of the core product and the respective candidate product to create adjusted prices for the candidate products.

Abstract: An arrangement for loading rate tables has a switchover module that is connected between a meter of a postage meter machine and a modem, between a postage calculator of an external scale and the modem. A control line drives the switchover module, so that the modem and the postage calculator can be functionally directly connected to one another for the purpose of loading rate tables.

The method includes transferring information relating to a product via a transmission means selected by an individual at a computing device requesting the information. Abstract: A system and method are provided for short term trading in gas and/or gas derivatives. In a preferred embodiment, the system provides a plurality of shallow depth salt gas storage facilities. Each of the facilities is typically operated at pressures in a range close to the pipeline pressure, typically within a range of 20 to 80 bars. If trading results in a difference to be made up, then computers operating the facilities respond quickly to add or remove gas from the pipelines, as required, with a response time as low as two minutes to change the net direction of flow of gas into or out of the storage facilities.

Abstract: This invention generally relates to a method and apparatus for determining carbon emission reduction credits and, more particularly, to a method and apparatus for generating and quantifying standardized carbon emission reduction credits. General data and site-specific data, if available, are input into a carbon sequestration model to determine the approximate change in the level of carbon compounds stored in a media, such as soil, over a specified period of time. An uncertainty analysis is conducted on the results to quantify and normalize carbon emission reduction credits. Standardized carbon emission reduction credits may be compiled for trade and other carbon emission reduction credits are placed in reserve.

Access to the web page by a user is detected. A travel query is populated with the predetermined travel parameters and a variable parameter based on identification information associated with the user. Cached travel options that are obtained from prior queries and that satisfy the travel query are presented to the user.

Abstract: System, method and program product for determining a price “P” to bill a customer for a resource. An amount “U” of the resource provided to the customer during the billing period is determined. An amount “Ci” of the resource committed to the customer during the billing period is identified. The price P=F(Ci)+G(U?Ci) is determined, where “F” and “G” are price functions for the resource. The price “P” is billed to the customer for the billing period. A determination is made as to the number of requests for the resource which were made by the customer during the billing period in excess of “Ci” which were denied. If the number of denied requests exceeds a predetermined threshold, the amount “Ci” for determining the price “P” is increased during a subsequent billing period. The price “P” is billed to the customer for the subsequent billing period based on the increased amount “Ci” and the value “U” during the subsequent billing period, and the functions “F” and “G”.

Abstract: A number of meters to be configured according to a particular billing rate. Multiple billing rates may be defined, named, and stored for use. Each such billing rate may include time of use (TOU) configuration parameters and/or demand configuration parameters. Alternatively, a billing rate may include strictly consumption based parameters. Each billing rate is “meter independent”, meaning that it is not specific to any particular meter configuration format. The billing rate is defined in a format that is convenient for the operator and then translated into a format that is specific to each meter on which it is implemented. Thus, to configure a number of different parameters on a number of differently formatted meters, only a single billing rate need be defined and propagated to the meters.

Abstract: A method, system and program product for quantifying a risk of an expected unserved energy in an energy generation system using a digital simulation. An energy load demand forecast is generated based at least in part on a weather year model. A plurality of energy generation resources are committed to meet the energy load demand. An operating status is determined for each committed energy generation resource in the energy generation system. A determination is made as to whether or not the committed resources are sufficient to meet the energy load demand. A dispatch order for a plurality of additional energy resources is selected if the committed resources are not sufficient to meet the energy load demand. Additional resources are committed based on the selected dispatch order until the energy load demand is met. The expected unserved energy is determined and an equivalent amount of energy load demand is shed based at least in part on an expected duration of unserved energy and a customer class grouping.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system for booking reservations in a booking system and synchronizing bookings among several booking systems. The system comprises at least one booking system; at least one service provider; a mediator service; a client, and at least one client terminal device that can be a mobile device and that includes a dialogue. The client uses the dialogue to enter information into the system and the mediator receives inquiries and answers from the at least one booking system, the at least one service provider, and the at least one client. The mediator transfers and adapts information between them. The method and system are particularly suited for use with mobile phone users by Small Message Service messages.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for managing consumer information, which permit sharing of consumer information in a controlled manner. In accordance with the disclosed system, at least one database is provided that contains consumer information related to at least one user. An administrative agent is also provided for establishing access to the consumer information contained in the database based on preferences expressed by the user. The system also includes a licensing agent for setting at least one licensing fee schedule for each user based on a set of licensing rules, and a payment agent for paying each user. In accordance with a disclosed method, a database is created of consumer information related to at least one user and access to the consumer information contained in the database is established based on each user's preferences. The method also includes setting a licensing fee schedule based on a set of licensing rules and paying the customer based on a set of payment rules.

Abstract: A system and method for use in compliance management is disclosed. Various compliance requirements and issues may be identified for business process and products. The individuals or entities responsible for the business processes and products are identified. Action plans based on compliance requirements and issues may be created. The action plans may be forward to the appropriate individuals or entities, and the results of the action plans monitored to determine whether compliance requirements and issues are being appropriately addressed.
