  • Patent number: 10452387
Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, described herein are a system and method for partition-scoped patching in an application server environment. A computer environment includes an application server, for example a multitenant application server, that supports the use of one or more partitions, wherein each partition provides an administrative and runtime subdivision of a domain. During a partition-scoped rollout of a patch or update, to a resource group or application within a plurality of servers or clusters of servers, the resource group or application can be updated within a targeted partition, using a patch orchestrator and partition lifecycle runtime interface, without affecting the operation of other partitions at those servers or clusters of servers. One or more session handling flags can be used, to enable sessions and/or requests that are associated with the targeted partition, to be handled by a traffic director, during the patching process.

  • Patent number: 10394697
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for identifying an optimal set of test cases of a larger test case bucket to execute on a new software release. The release includes one or more patches modifying development code of a previous release of the software, and each test case includes metadata specifying a history of the test case relative to an execution on the previous release. In each patch, it is determined, based on the metadata, whether at a test case targets the development code modified by the patch. Upon determining that the test case targets the development code, a score associated with the test case is incremented. The test cases are prioritized for execution based on score.

  • Patent number: 10365900
Abstract: Three extensions to the conventional field specialization process are disclosed. The first extension is cross-application value flows, where a value transfers out of one application and subsequently into another application. The second extension is an inter-application analysis. Static and dynamic analysis is performed by a Spiff Toolset not just on the source code of a single application, but also across the data read and written by that application. The third extension is invariant cross-application termination, verifying the possibility of an invariant originating in an application and terminating in a specialization opportunity in a separate application. An ecosystem specification is disclosed to enable such field specialization broadening.

  • Patent number: 10338914
Abstract: Some examples described herein relate to dynamically applying a patch to a shared library. An external process may be invoked to bring target processes that refer to a shared library, to a safe point. In response to a function call from a target process, amongst the target processes, to access a target function in the shared library, the function call may be forwarded to a special function in a dynamic loader, wherein the target function is a function to be patched in the shared library. The special function may determine whether a shared patch library, comprising a patched version of the target function or a new function, is loaded for the target process. In response to determination that the shared patch library is not loaded for the target process, the shared patch library may be loaded only for the target process, and the request for the target function may be routed to the patched version of the target function or the new function, in the shared patch library.

  • Patent number: 10338902
Abstract: A method, system, and computer-readable medium including operations for optimizing computer code is disclosed. A block of mixed intermediate representation (MIR) code is received. A partially-decompiled block of computer code is generated from the MIR code. For each instruction in the block of MIR code, in reverse order, a native expression vector for the instruction is computed. A set of pattern-matching operations is repeated until no transformations occur. A fully-decompiled block of computer code is generated from the partially-decompiled block of computer code, the fully-decompiled block of computer code having a semantic level that is raised. The fully-decompiled block of computer code is provided for deployment on an architecture, the deployment including lowering the semantic of the computer code to a level that corresponds to a CPU or GPU supported by the architecture.
