Abstract: An incinerator includes a furnace, a heat-insulating shield, an air conduit, an air blower, and a dryer. The heat-insulating shield has a top wall, a vertically extending peripheral wall that extends downwardly from the top wall and that surrounds and that is spaced apart from the furnace by a gap, and an open bottom end. The peripheral wall of the heat-insulating shield has an air outlet that is disposed adjacent to the top wall and that is in fluid communication with the gap. Atmospheric air is introduced via the open bottom end through the gap and the air conduit and into the dryer.
Abstract: In order to control the temperature of the transmission oil of a motor vehicle driven by a liquid-cooled engine, a coolant/transmission oil heat exchanger is provided. The coolant stream supplied to the heat exchanger is miscible in a thermostatic valve from recooled and non-recooled coolant in order to achieve a desired temperature. Preferably the thermostatic valve is controlled by the temperature of the transmission oil, but it is also possible to have two expanding material elements as control pistons of the thermostatic valve, with one control piston being provided in the oil chamber of the thermostatic valve and the other control piston being provided in the coolant mixing chamber of the thermostatic valve. It is also possible, for purposes of precontrol, to electrically heat at least one of the control pistons.

Abstract: Apparatus for cooling ash exiting from circulating fluidized bed equipment includes an enclosure having a floor, a plurality of walls disposed around the floor and a ceiling. The enclosure also has an inlet and an outlet. The outlet is disposed in one of the walls near to the floor and the apparatus also includes tubing disposed within the enclosure for heat exchange relationship with ash entering the inlet of the ash cooler. In some forms of the invention the floor is planar and is disposed in oblique relationship to a horizontal plane. The outlet may be disposed proximate to the floor at the lowest elevational part thereof. The enclosure may be generally rectangular and may have first and second opposed sides and opposed third and fourth sides. The first and second sides are longer than the third and fourth sides. In some cases the ratio of the length of each of the first and second sides to the length of the third and fourth sides is two or three to one.
Abstract: A flashlight assembly for use in a vehicle to replace an ashtray. The flashlight includes a front handle portion conformable to the opening of an ashtray and when inserted into the ashtray opening, in place of the ashtray, blends in with the vehicle console or dashboard. The flashlight is slidably or pivotably mounted in the ashtray opening, and is easily removable from the ashtray opening, for use by an operator or others, as needed. A charging contact may be added to the ashtray opening for recharging a rechargeable flashlight, or batteries held within the flashlight, when the flashlight is inserted fully into the ashtray opening contacting the charging contact.
Abstract: An actuator mechanism for a pivoted member which includes a drive crank pivotally connected to a link which, in turn, is pivotally connected to a driven crank for transmitting drive to the driven link and wherein the link cooperates with a stationary pin for ensuring that the link is properly located for continuously providing drive to the driven crank in the proper direction even when the drive crank, link and driven crank are in longitudinal alignment.
