  • Patent number: 7204026
Abstract: An adjustable reciprocating saw has the ability to adjust the orientation of the saw blade in relation to the rest of the tool. The saw blade can pivot about two transverse axes, one parallel with and one perpendicular to the reciprocating motion axis of the saw blade. The portions of the saw's housing which rotate relative to one another are attached with a rotating joint comprising a pin and groove design. Rotation locks selectively prevent rotation of the saw blade about each axis. The rotation locks can be released through simply depressing buttons on the saw. A rear internal bearing increases the durability and decreases the size of the saw. A keyless adjustable shoe is mounted to the saw.

  • Patent number: 6837135
Abstract: An apparatus for slitting a running paperboard web includes a thin high speed rotary slitting blade that is plunged through the moving web and into a slot between a pair of anvil rollers supporting the web on the opposite side. Because the slitting blade and the anvil rollers are vertically separated and pre-positioned before order change, an adjustment apparatus is provided to spread the anvil rollers axially apart to provide an open gap with a large target for blade edge when it is plunged through the web and into the slot. The anvil rollers are then closed against the opposite faces of the blade for running operation. Preferably, the anvil rollers are mounted on brackets hinged together below the rollers to move the opposite upper edges of the rollers between the opened and closed position in the manner of a clam shell. The anvil roller assembly is also adjustable in the machine direction to compensate for reduction in rotary slitting blade diameter with blade wear.

  • Patent number: 6763748
Abstract: A slicing and conveying system forms a three or more flavor-combined draft. A first slicing machine slices a succession of first and third slices in first and third shingled drafts. A second slicing machine slices a succession of second slices in second shingled drafts. A pass-through conveyor transfers the first draft to an output conveyor of the second slicing machine, wherein the second draft is added to the first draft to form a first combined draft. An overlap conveyor receives the first combined draft and merges the first combined draft with the third draft on the overlap conveyor to form an elongated combined draft. Optical sensors determine lengths of the first draft, the second draft, the third draft, and/or the elongated combined draft.

  • Patent number: 6711931
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for accurately and repeatably positioning metallic parts having variable length extrusions and shaped sheet metal in a modular die system that forms a joggle in the metallic parts. The apparatus of the present invention includes a standard joggle die system that is currently in use in the art. The apparatus further includes a movable back gage assembly that works in combination with the joggle die system to allow an operator to accurately position the workpiece between the joggle dies at a preselected position. The back gage assembly is movable in both the horizontal and vertical directions. The back gage assembly moves into a stored position away from the working area of the dies to permit the joggle to be formed in the workpiece. The back gage assembly can then move back into the working area to accurately position the next workpiece without the need for further adjustments.
