  • Patent number: 7747718
Abstract: The control system setting apparatus is composed of a computer, comprising a processor, storage device, input device, display, and an interface connectable to a control system. The storage device stores therein a setting program 30 and a setting data 40. Component profile data is stored in a CPS 43 of the setting data 40. The component profile data is prepared for each component. The setting program makes the processor execute the following processes: When the input device is operated to select a network and a component to be used, a network constitution editor 33 checks for adaptability between the network and the component based on the component profile data. On condition that the component is adaptable to the network intended to connect the component, a network block diagram is created using a network icon to show the selected network and a component icon to show the selected component, and then displayed on the display.

  • Patent number: 7725586
Abstract: A method to negotiate computer settings in advance is presented. A prediction is made to determine if the computer setting will be needed, and if needed, whether a value outside of a normal range of values will be needed. A value for the computer setting that is outside of the normal range of values is determined and the value is set to the outside value. A value within the normal range of values is used if it was predicted that there is no need for a value outside of the normal range of values.

  • Patent number: 7711838
Abstract: Data streams are selected according to user preferences and transmitted to the user. Such data streams may be audio, video, or other works, such as popular music or the like, or other works, including music videos. Users may indicate their general or specific preferences with reaard to song, artists, or albums. Other users, particularly ones who access the system often, can act as influencers or controllers of the music transmitted to the user. Any other aspects or factors that might affect the user's preferences can be taken into account, such as popular radio stations in the United States or anywhere in the world. A playlist can be created that combines all of these factors, as well as any applicable statutory regulations. The playlist serves as a basis for feeding the data streams to the user, and the user can enjoy music generally of their choosing, while additionally being exposed to new music (if the user so prefers). An Internet radio is established.

  • Patent number: 7707252
Abstract: A spam defining system defines rules about emails depending on user's reactions to emails. A user can delete an email as spam, or not spam, or without committing to whether the email is spam or not. If the user indicates whether the email is spam or not spam; characteristics of the email are used to update a database. Incoming emails are compared against the database, to determine a likelihood of whether they are spam.

  • Patent number: 7676596
Abstract: Method and system for broadcasting live data over a network are described. In one embodiment, live data is accessed. Next, a first client is authenticated. The live data is then broadcast to a first client, wherein the first client is capable of buffering and re-transmitting the live data. Next, a second client is authenticated. A list of clients receiving the live data is then sent to the second client. The second client then selects the first client from the list, contacts the first client, and then receives the live data from the first client.

  • Patent number: 7672998
Abstract: The invention provides systems, mechanisms and techniques for controlling transmission of outbound messages, such as e-mail or other types of messages, onto a computer network from an originator computer system. Connection equipment can authenticate and authorize the connection for the computer user and can capture and map originator network address information assigned to the originator computer system. A quota server can then determine if the message count exceeds the message limit for the originator identity associated with the outbound message Embodiments of the invention control message transmission from a sending or origination point prior to the messages being transmitted on the computer network, resources of a computer network are conserved and these embodiments prevent computer users from transmitting large amounts of outbound messages in excess of the message limits.

  • Patent number: 7647402
Abstract: Protecting data files from being stolen or compromised in a data processing operation having stored data in a plurality of data files by receiving user requests for access to data files, determining whether said requests are unauthorized intrusions into the requested data files and, responsive to a determination that a request is an unauthorized intrusion, changing the identification of the requested data files by renaming the files. Preferably, the rename should be one which does not identify the contents of the file, i.e. the rename disguises the file contents. Then, it is also desirable that the renamed file be moved to a new “hidden” directory. In such a case, the renamed file is also assigned a covert name which indicates a covert location in the new directory. Then, there is provided a log referencing each renamed file to the covert name of the respective file so as to indicate the covert location of said file in said new directory.

  • Patent number: 7647409
Abstract: Managing subscriber access to online subscription services providing online subscribers or potential new subscribers access to a subscription or trial subscription content at a normal level of service during the subscription period but, after the subscription has expired, providing a decreased level of service during a post-expiration period. The level of service may be decreased incrementally by reducing the content available to a subscriber, downloading the subscription content at a slower than normal rate, delivering certain features in black and white instead of color, deleting sound files, disabling any inter-active features, or any combination of these features. A subscription server manages the various databases and downloads subscription content to the online subscribers. The databases contain information about the subscribers and instructions for the subscription server to follow in granting normal or reduced access to the subscription content.
