Abstract: A multi-spindle automatic lathe (11) includes a spindle carrier (12) mounted freely rotatable in an indexing fashion relative to a head stock (13), a plurality of workpieces (W) supported in spindles (14) on the head stock and freely rotatably driven on the same circumference, a plurality of tool slides (15) and integral tool holders positioned around the spindle carrier (12), one tool slide and integral tool holder being provided for each of the spindles and arranged on the head stock (13) so that each tool (27) mounted on each tool holder (25) is; freely reciprocable in dual directions, one direction parallel with the axis of the spindle and the other direction normal to that axis, for processing a workpiece.
Abstract: A plug connector assembly (1) includes a housing (2) adapted to receive multiple connectors (9) inserted therein carrying cables (8) with a cover (3) having mating halves (3a, 3b) which latch together onto the housing, locking the connectors in place. The housing includes a resilient arm (4) operable to latch the assembly to a mating connector. The cover (3) includes a further resilient arm (3b) operable to depress the housing resilient arm to disengage the assembly from the mated connector.
Abstract: There is disclosed an indexable cutting insert including at least one cutting surface, at least one flank intersecting with the cutting surface, cutting blade defined along the cross line between the cutting surface and the flank, at least one primary nick formed on the flank so as to extend in a direction perpendicular to the cutting blade, and at least one secondary nick formed on the cutting surface in succession to the primary nick so as to extend in a direction perpendicular to the cutting blade.
Abstract: A centrifugally operated clamping device for clamping a reversible blade insert in a planing tool ensures positive engagement between the clamp and the blade. The clamping device includes a clamping wedge which has an inverted T-shaped cross-section and is positioned in a similarly configured groove in the tool. The wedge is biased relative to the bottom of the groove so that the clamp will be easily disconnected from the blade.
Abstract: An apparatus for carrying out connection and disconnection of circuit member to an electrical connector has an inner frame for regulating a space for a circuit to be mounted, an outer frame, disposed outside the inner frame, for supporting the inner frame in such a manner as to move the inner frame in a predetermined direction only, a wedge member which is disposed between the outer frame and the inner frame in such a fashion as to be movable in a direction normal to the predetermined direction, and which moves the inner frame in the predetermined direction when the wedge member is moved, and a drive apparatus for externally driving the wedge member.

Abstract: Two preferred embodiments of an apparatus are disclosed for imparting combined synchronous reciprocating and oscillatory motions to a cutting tool of the type used with an engine lathe to cut a continuous circumferential serpentine-patterned groove in the surface of a workpiece held and rotated about an axis of rotation by the lathe. The tool is axially journaled and mounted on a slide block permitting oscillatory and reciprocating motions of the tool relative to the rotating workpiece. Direct inflexible drive mechanisms impart the reciprocating and oscillatory motions, where the motions are synchronous with each other and are timed so as to define an integral number of waves around the circumference of the workpiece. The first embodiment employs a cam, cam followers, and direct mechanical or hydraulic linkages therefrom utilizing a minimum of parts to impart the motions. The second embodiment employs two separate servo motors to impart the motions.
