Abstract: The invention relates to the indication of the amount of characters, which can be still entered into an edit field of an electronic device. A main object of the invention is to provide a new and improved indication of the amount of remaining capacity for entering data in an edit field of an electronic device. The invention proposes to indicate the amount of data, in particular of characters, which can be entered in an edit field of an electronic device, by graphically visualizing the available capacity for entering data in the edit field. In one example, the graphic element is a cursor that changes, in terms of size, shape, color, etc., based on the amount of available capacity.

Abstract: A method, and program storage device apparatus for adapting multi-media presentations of various formats to a new format suitable for playback on a general scene description based playback system. More specifically, when mult-media presentations do not contain scene description components, such components appropriate to the multi-media presentation will be constructed. The multi-media presentation will then be presented together with the created scene description components to the playback system for decoding rendering.

Abstract: A system for processing an object specified by an object specifying language such as HTML, JAVA or other languages relying on relative positioning, that require a rendering program utilizing a minimum set of resources, translates the code for use in a target device that has limited processing resources unsuited for storage and execution of the HTML rendering program, JAVA virtual machine, or other rendering engine for the standard. Data concerning such an object is generated by a process that includes first receiving a data set specifying the object according to the object specifying language, translating the first data set into a second data set in an intermediate object language adapted for a second rendering program suitable for rendering by the target device that utilizes actual target display coordinates. The second data set is stored in a machine readable storage device, for later retrieval and execution by the thin client platform.

In particular, there is provided a form processing method for reading a field data file storing data to be overlaid onto a defined field in a form, and overlaying data of the field data file onto a field in the form, the form processing method including: a determination step of determining, if data of the field data file is description specifying an external file, whether the description of the data is in a URL format (step S301); an overlaying step of downloading the external file in a network server in compliance with Internet protocols (step S305) and overlaying the data of the downloaded external file onto the field in the form if the description is determined to be in a URL format at the determination step (step S301).

Abstract: A method for navigating search results includes identifying a first occurrence and a second occurrence of at least one search term in a document. The method also includes generating a web page comprising at least a portion of the document. The first occurrence appears as a hyperlink in the web page. The hyperlink is associated with a position of the second occurrence. The method further includes communicating the web page for display to a user.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for generating a virtual book from a set of electronic documentation. From the documentation, a set of topics (e.g., headings) are copied and saved, along with references to their locations in the documentation. The hierarchy of documentation topics is also recorded so that from one topic, its parent and/or children can be easily reached. The topics are classified into one or more categories (e.g., concept, task, example, reference, troubleshooting) identifying general (and/or specific) types of information. When a subject for a virtual book is received, the topics are searched for those relevant to the subject. A virtual book is then assembled to contain the relevant topics, which may be grouped by category. Within a category, topics may be listed in alphabetical order, in order of relevance, in the order they appear in the documentation or within a given book, etc.

Abstract: Method, system, and computer code for preparing markup language documents containing multi-line text elements for WYSIWYG printing. The document is rendered in a prepress server system by a duplicate of the browser that was used to prepare the document in the client system. User-imposed line breaks are identified by reviewing text elements for break characters. Browser-imposed line breaks are identified by comparing spatial location information from the browser for each sequential pair of characters in a text element. The collective line break information is used to ensure that the line breaks viewed by the user are maintained when the document is converted to a prepress system.
