  • Patent number: 6675615
Abstract: A T-bar lockable linkage between the gunnels and forward of a marine craft limits opening of side and central storage containers. The linkage includes a pair of tubular outer arms independently pivotally connected to a center link having an extended position for connection to the mounting brackets and a shortened position for removal therefrom. A shiftable lock block slidably supported on the linkage effects rigidized coaxial alignment of the outer arms in the extended position, The lock block includes a locking hub for releasable connection with a transverse center arm for limiting opening of the storage containers. The hub carries a keyed locking device including a latch bolt that engages the cross arm assembly to unitize the assembly and prevent separation of the components.

  • Patent number: 6669205
Abstract: A gasket for interposition between a first and an opposing second interface surface of a sealing assembly. The gasket includes a retainer and a generally annular seal element received in a groove formed into at least one side of the retainer. Such retainer side further is formed as having one or more channels extending extend radially through the groove and the inner or outer perimeter of the retainer. Each such channel defines a vent for relieving hydrostatic fluid pressure as the gasket is compressed between the interface surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6668429
Abstract: The invention is a deep-groove fastener which securely retains a seat cover within the groove of a deeply contoured seat bun. The fastener comprises an elongated body generally concave in cross section and having an interior cavity. A plurality of notched ridges are located on the surface of the interior cavity. The notched ridges serve as fastening elements for engaging loop or other material attached to the underside of a seat cover. Anchor elements are located on the exterior, non-cavity surface of the main body, to aid in anchoring the invention within a foam seat bun. The main body additionally comprises two flange-like sealing legs having a relatively flat bottom surface, to seal the sides of the invention against fouling during the seat bun molding process. Magnetically attractable particles are incorporated into the sealing legs, to hold the invention securely to a magnetized seat bun forming mold.

  • Patent number: 6669249
Abstract: A handle support mechanism is designed for attachment to a door lock, preferably the exterior of a mortise lock, that has two handles driven back to an initial position with a common return spring after either handle is used. The support mechanism prevents the unused handle from drooping or rotating when the common return spring is compressed as the opposite handle is turned. The support mechanism includes first and second friction discs trapped between the exterior of the mortise lock and the legs of a U-shaped spring bracket. The spring bracket applies an inward spring pressure to prevent a friction disc and its corresponding handle from turning when the other handle is in use. The handle support mechanism improves visual appearance and is particularly suitable for retrofit installations, lever handle designs and mortise locks with independent switch sensors on the two handles that notify a monitoring system as to which handle was turned to open a monitored door.

  • Patent number: 6668422
Abstract: A device used to safely secure a vehicle's trunk or hood lid, hereafter called lid or lids, in an open position is disclosed. The preferred device comprises a ␣ formed fork, which is housed in a vehicle's existing lid support arms, with two ends; two force distribution boots, two friction fittings and a damping-extension block. Upon manual engagement of the fork assembly the two force distribution boots contact the damping-extension block and keep a vehicle's lid from closing. Most vehicles have spring tension assemblies mounted in their lids that operate to keep the lids open by way of stored energy in the spring assemblies. As such, lids equipped with these spring assemblies are subject to unintentional closing by unexpected forces, such as winds, parking a vehicle on a grade or often accidents related to children. In the present invention, the device's flawless operation is entirely independent and void of these actions owing to its design, stability, and simplicity of operation.

  • Patent number: 6666485
Abstract: A locking/unlocking device for a waste collection container for automatically locking/unlocking, by gravity, the lid (2) of the container (1) on the vessel (4) of the container. A pivoting piece (8) is fixed in an articulated fashion to the internal face of the lid, and has a lever (8d) having a hook (9) engaging in an orifice (13) in the vessel; and an arm 8b) coming into engagement with a hook (7c) on an articulated angled piece (7). Tilting of the container (1) causes, by gravity effect, the pivoting of the angled piece (7) and then the pivoting of the pivoting piece (8) thus released from the hook (7c), towards an unlocked position. The device also relates to a container equipped with such a locking/unlocking device.

  • Patent number: 6655872
Abstract: A method, system, and device for deploying an oil spill containment boom at the side of a ship, barge, or other steel structure. Each end of the boom is connected to its own device that is configured to attach to a generally vertical surface of a steel-hulled ship. Attachment occurs through the use of magnetic force. Instead of encircling the entire ship with a boom, the device permits the establishment of specific containment areas around the ship. The device engages and disengage the side of the ship through the use of a cam and lever assembly to counter the magnetic force.
