Patent number: 4792435Abstract: An oxygen generating system for continuously generating oxygen gas by the catalytic decomposition of an aqueous hydrogen peroxide, includes a catalyst having a platinum group catalyst component carried on a highly porous sintered ceramic support of a large pore size and a reaction chamber for accommodating the catalyst. The system further includes a control device for controlling the operation of the hydrogen peroxide supplying based on a detection signal from a pressure sensor for detecting the pressure of the generated oxygen gas.The oxygen generating system is compact and reduced in weight due to the catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide at high concentration, which can be carried out effectively and safely under an increased temperature.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1988Date of Patent: December 20, 1988Assignee: Nakajima Dokosho Company LimitedInventor: Masahiko Nakajima

Patent number: 4737463Abstract: A photoactivated time-temperature indicator is based on diacetylenic salts. A thermally unreactive ("inactive") diacetylenic salt (or a mixture of such salts) is mixed, in a polymeric matrix, with a material that generates acid upon exposure to light. Photoexcitation, preferably by UV or near UV light, causes the formation of a thermal reactive ("active") free diacetylenic acid. Following this activation step, a progressive color development occurs at a rate that increases with temperature. The indicator is useful for monitoring the freshness of perishable products, particularly those that require refrigeration.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1985Date of Patent: April 12, 1988Assignee: LifeLines Technology, Inc.Inventors: Himangshu R. Bhattacharjee, James T. Yardley, Thaddeus Prusik, Ronald R. Chance

Patent number: 4702889Abstract: A liquid diluting and transfer valve has disc like valve elements provided with faces frictionally engaged. The valve further includes passageways for passing both sample liquid and rinse liquid and a continuous groove formed in one of the respective faces. This continuous groove effectively isolates the passageway openings to the faces and is capable of blocking passage of leakage material along the face to the periphery of the engaged face.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1986Date of Patent: October 27, 1987Assignee: Coulter Electronics Inc.Inventors: Pedro P. Cabrera, Humberto A. Berra, Edward N. Doty

Patent number: 4647532Abstract: A method for determination of hydrogen peroxide by chemiluminescence analysis which consists of reacting a sample containing hydrogen peroxide with an oxidizable non-fluorescent substance in the presence of an oxidizing catalyst to convert the non-fluorescent substance to a fluorescent substance, reacting the fluorescent substance with an oxalic acid di-ester and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of an inhibitor which inactivates the oxidizing catalyst, and then measuring the amount of light emission produced to determine the amount of hydrogen peroxide contained in the sample. Determination and enzyme immunoassay for a component other than hydrogen peroxide in a sample from living body and evaluation of bactericidal activity in phagocytosis of leukocytes by utilizing this method are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1985Date of Patent: March 3, 1987Assignee: Toyo Boseki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Haruo Watanabe, Noboru Mitsuhida, Makoto Andoh, Hakuji Matsumoto
