  • Patent number: 4573217
Abstract: A protective hood adapted for use by a firefighter is disclosed in which a head portion, a lower marginal portion and a flap provide protection not only for the forehead, head and ears but also for the chin and neck of the firefighter. A means for adjustably and releasably fastening the flap to the protective hood is disclosed. The protective hood is fabricated from an exterior material and an interior liner material, so that the two layers of material provide an insulated fire resistant protective hood for the firefighter. The protective hood used in combination with an air pack face mask and a firefighting coat provides complete protection of the head and upper torso of the firefighter.

  • Patent number: 4570269
Abstract: A vented racing glove suitable for motorcycle use in which a flexible protective pad is attached over the top of the gloove. The pad has various integrally formed upstanding air scoops which receive air when the glove is in motion to provide positive ventilation to its interior, and protect the wearer's hand in case of a fall. Ventilation grills are also provided in the pad in the form of parallel upstanding ribs with vent openings in the pad between adjacent ribs. The grills likewise provide both ventilation and protection. The fingers of the pad include forward facing air scoops behind the finger joints and rearward facing air scoops forward of the finger joints, with the air inlets of both scoops facing forward when the wearer grips a motorcycle hand grip.

  • Patent number: 4554709
Abstract: In a chain-driven comb head for drawing frames, of the type including means for directing compressed air jets at the combs, these means comprise ducts for supplying compressed air to each needle field defined by the combs and slots for generating, from the supplied air, at least one flat jet of compressed air directed outwardly in a predetermined direction which does not intersect the zone of treatment of the sliver between the combs. During movement of the combs, the flat jet of compressed air flows successively over the surfaces of the combs to clean them. The needle-carrying bars making up the combs are rotatably mounted about their axes and have one end out of alignment, the head structure including at least two tracks engaged by the non-aligned ends and shaped so as to cause the combs to orient themselves in a predetermined direction when they pass in front of the flat jet.
