Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are provided that are associated with multi-layer transmissions such as multi-layer NOMA transmissions. A per-layer perturbation pattern may be applied to the multiple layers to create differences among the transmission power levels of the layers. MAS and NOMA resource indications may be provided, e.g., through TCI state. Dynamic MAS and NOMA resource indications may be provided. Uplink CSI-RS techniques may be provided, e.g., for interference measurement.
Abstract: A synthetic jet actuator includes a cavity layer having an internal cavity for reception of a fluid volume and an orifice providing a fluid communication between the cavity and an external atmosphere; an oscillatory membrane having a piezoelectric material adapted to deflect the oscillatory membrane in response to an electrical signal; and a controller configured to control delivery of electrical signals to the piezoelectric material for controlling operation of the oscillatory membrane based on input data received from one or more sources that informs on a temperature and/or performance level of a targeted objected for cooling. The actuator may further include a thermal element for affecting modified temperature control; and the actuator may be integrated into a surface of a thermally diffusive structure for dissipating heat from a thermal load.
Abstract: A pharmaceutical composition containing a mixed polymeric micelle and a drug enclosed in the micelle, in which the mixed polymeric micelle, 1 to 1000 nm in size, includes an amphiphilic block copolymer and a lipopolymer. Also disclosed are preparation of the pharmaceutical composition and use thereof for treating cancer.
Abstract: A brace and kit of braces with a method of use. The multi-digit brace includes first and second arcuate members coupled together by top and bottom bridge members. There are raised rails disposed about the circumference of the brace that form a band track within which an elastic band may be disposed to secure the brace to the fingers/toes of a hand/foot. The arcuate members are thinner near the bottom to allow for greater flex/bend of adjacent joints. The arcuate members are spaced from each other and form an hourglass shaped void therebetween. The arcuate members may form complete circles or may have gaps. The kit may include a plurality of braces and a plurality of bands/wraps/straps. The method includes installing a plurality of braces so that they face back-to-back towards a middle joint with thinner regions of each brace near the palmar side of the middle joint.

Abstract: A first sponge device for use to manipulate and prepare the surface of the epithelium of an eye prior to application of an ophthalmic solution has a handle and a sponge head secured to the handle. The head is made of an absorbent, wicking sponge material and has a non-sharp, tissue preparation surface of predetermined shape for rubbing across the surface of the epithelium layer in order to manipulate the tissue. After the surface is prepared, a second, holding sponge is placed over the eye to act as a reservoir and to hold ophthalmic solution against the eye surface.
Abstract: A drive recorder to be mounted on a vehicle includes an acquisition unit, a recording unit, a communication unit, and a control unit. The acquisition unit acquires data representing driving condition. The recording unit records the acquired data. The communication unit transmits the acquired data to the outside. The control unit controls the quality of the data to be transmitted based on the information received from the outside.
Abstract: A gate driving power source device can be miniaturized by sharing power source units, and a large current can be prevented from locally flowing in a single chip even when a short-circuit failure occurs in a multi-phase conversion circuit included in a power conversion device. There is provided a shared power source unit supplying a shared DC power source to a gate drive circuit provided in any one of a plurality of lower arms of multi-phase conversion circuits or any one of a plurality of upper arms of the multi-phase conversion circuit and gate drive circuits provided in upper arms or lower arms of other conversion circuits.

Abstract: The effectiveness of expansive cement systems may be diluted when, during a well cementing operation, commingling takes place between the cement slurry and a spacer fluid, a drilling fluid, or both. Incorporating expansive agents in the spacer fluid or drilling fluid may reduce or negate the loss of expansion at the cement slurry/spacer interface or the cement slurry/drilling fluid interface, thereby promoting zonal isolation throughout the cemented interval.
Abstract: An apparatus for separating particles, such as drill cuttings, from a flowable substance, such as drilling mud, is provided. The apparatus comprises an inlet for entry of particles combined with the flowable substance; an outlet for exit of particles separated from the flowable substance; a movable screen located between the inlet and the outlet; and a wash unit for delivering a wash agent to the particles. The screen allows for passage of the flowable substance therethrough, and defines a path for passage of the particles between the inlet and the outlet. Delivery of the wash agent to the particles assists with separation of the particles from the flowable substance. Associated systems and methods are also provided.

Any one of the first device and the second device is a lighting device in which a direction of a light source of light is adjustable. An opening is formed in the ride. The adjustment mechanism of the first device and the adjustment of the second device can be operated by being accessed from outside through the same opening.
Abstract: A method for controlling a robot. The method includes receiving an indication of a target configuration to be reached from an initial configuration of the robot, determining a coarse-scale value map by value iteration, starting from an initial coarse-scale state and until the robot reaches the target configuration or a maximum number of fine-scale states has been reached, determining a fine-scale sub-goal from the coarse-scale value map, performing, by an actuator of the robot, fine-scale control actions to reach the determined fine-scale sub-goal and obtaining sensor data to determine the fine-scale states reached, starting from a current fine-scale state of the robot and until the robot reaches the determined fine-scale sub-goal, the robot transitions to a different coarse-scale state, or a maximum sequence length of the sequence of fine-scale states has been reached and determining the next coarse-scale state.

Abstract: A method of cleaning a well includes flowing well fluid within the well while running a cleaning tool into the well, injecting the well fluid with a fluid thickening agent through multiple nozzles of the well cleaning tool to form thickened well fluid, dislodging metallic debris and non-metallic debris accumulated along a wall of the well with multiple brushes of the cleaning tool, carrying the non-metallic debris out of the well with the thickened well fluid, and capturing the metallic debris at a capture device of the cleaning tool.
