  • Patent number: 9135087
Abstract: Systems and methods for limiting resource usage of a kernel of an integrated circuit are provided. For example, in one embodiment a method for limiting a number of workgroups that may simultaneously access a kernel of an integrated circuit (IC) includes determining a threshold number of workgroups that may access the kernel simultaneously. A thread of execution is received. The thread of execution is allowed to access the kernel when the threshold number of workgroups would not be exceeded by the thread of execution accessing the kernel.

  • Patent number: 9021421
Abstract: Described herein are techniques to provide read and write barriers for flexible and efficient garbage collection. A memory heap is split into pages. Each page is aligned to an address that is a multiple of a particular power of two. When generating read and write operations, code is generated to execute the write barrier or the read barrier. At this point, the page alignment for each pointer is known; for example, if the page alignment is the same for all pointers in the system. With this page structure, it is possible to find the page start by masking the address of any heap allocated object on the page with a mask based on the page alignment (bitwise-and operation). A plurality of flags are established on a page. This Abstract is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.

  • Patent number: 8984527
Abstract: A system and method donates time from a first process to a second process. The method includes determining a time slice for each of a plurality of processes to generate a schedule therefrom. The method includes determining a time donation scheme for the first process, the time donation scheme indicative of a donation policy in which the execution time of the first process is donated to the second process. During execution of the processes, the method includes receiving a request from the first process for a time donation to the second process and executing the second process during the time slice of the first process.

  • Patent number: 8978025
Abstract: The disclosure provides a server including a baseboard management controller (BMC), a programmable logic device (PLD) and a blocking unit. The BMC receives an update instruction, and according to the update instruction, generates a firmware update data. The BMC generates an update signal according to on a reception state of the update instruction. The PLD is coupled to the BMC, receives the firmware update data to update a firmware. When the firmware is updated, the PLD generates a restart signal. The blocking unit is coupled to the BMC and the PLD, receives the update signal and the restart signal, and according to the update signal, determines whether to block the restart signal.

  • Patent number: 8954965
Abstract: Cloning of a virtual machine having a trusted executed environment such as a software-based trusted platform module. In order to clone the virtual machine, the virtual machine state of the source virtual machine is copied to formulate a target virtual machine state that is to be associated with a target virtual machine. The target virtual machine is a clone of the source virtual machine state, and thus the storage hierarchy of the trusted execution environment may be the same for the trusted execution environment in the source and target virtual machine states. However, because the identity of the target virtual machine is different than that of the source virtual machine, the endorsement hierarchy of the target virtual machine state is altered such that it is based on the identity of the target virtual machine, rather than the source virtual machine.

  • Patent number: 8869112
Abstract: A tailored add-on component for a released software product having internal and released development objects. The released development objects are designed for external use, such as end-user customization. The internal development objects are designed for use within the released software product, with no access from outside components. The tailored add-on component adds a functional application that makes calls to both released and internal objects. Access to internal objects is made while maintaining stability by confining internal object calls to a single adaptation component within the add-on, while also implementing an interface for the objects of the software product that are used by the add-on. The interface includes a function to freeze objects that are in the interface, and a set of automatic test components to identify changes in the objects that are in the interface.
