  • Patent number: 8157008
Abstract: A method of preparing a wellbore for production includes running a wellbore clean-out string, including a cement evaluation tool and a wellbore cleaning tool, into a wellbore, acquiring data relating to at least one property of a cement bond of the wellbore, using the cement evaluation tool, and simultaneously cleaning the wellbore, using the wellbore cleaning tool, as the clean-out string is run into the wellbore in order to acquire first and second sets of data while running the string into the wellbore. The first and second sets are combined to form first and second logs of cement bond, which are used to produce an enhanced log of the cement bond.

  • Patent number: 8141660
Abstract: An excavator for underground excavating arranged to perform excavating work with low vibration and low noise. A rotary excavator and an underground excavating method are also provided. The excavator (1) for underground excavating comprises a plurality of bits (42a, . . . ) having the outside diameter smaller than that of the excavator body (2) and advancing/retracting to/from the excavating side, piston case members (22b, . . . ) incorporating pistons (61) for applying a hitting force to respective bits (42a, . . . ) by the energy of working fluid, a section (30) for storing the working fluid being fed to respective piston case members (22b, . . . ), working fluid circulation passages (352) for allowing the working fluid being fed to respective piston case members (22b, . . . ) to pass, and a body of rotation (40) provided with a plurality of holes (4a, . . . ) for allowing the fluid storage section (30) to communicate with the circulation openings (3a, . . .

  • Patent number: 8141647
Abstract: A method is provided of radially expanding a tubular element. The method comprises inducing the wall of the tubular element to bend radially outward and in axially reverse direction so as to form an expanded section of the tubular element extending around an unexpanded section of the tubular element, wherein said bending occurs in a bending zone of the wall, and wherein an annular space is defined between the unexpanded and expanded sections. At least one guide member is located in the annular space, each guide member being arranged to guide the wall during said bending so that the wall bends at an increased bending radius relative to bending of the wall in case the guide member is absent from the annular space.

  • Patent number: 8132624
Abstract: A method for uniform heating of a formation including applying a high temperature fluid to a tubular located within an open hole formation borehole; modifying a permeability of the tubular along its length by reducing permeability at a heel of the borehole and by increasing permeability towards a toe of the borehole; and impeding annular movement of the heated fluid by radially extending one or more baffles from the tubular.

  • Patent number: 8079416
Abstract: A plug for insertion into a perforation in a liner or tubular. The plug comprises a base portion and one or more extendible portions. The base portion is securable to and receivable within the perforation. The base portion and the one or more extendible portions seal the perforation in the liner. The one or more extendible portions have a retracted position and an extended position such that when in their extended position the one or more extendible portions extend outwardly from the base portion and outwardly from the exterior surface of the liner. The plug including one or more shear pins retaining such extendible portions in said retracted position until sufficient force is applied to shear said shear pins.

  • Patent number: 8002044
Abstract: A liner hanger has a housing with a pocket disposed on an inner wall surface and a slip slidingly engaged within the pocket. A moveable cover is disposed interior to the slip thereby restricting movement of the slip from a unset position to a set position. The liner hanger housing is secured in the string of casing and an actuator is mounted on the liner. As the liner is moved through the casing coupler, the actuator actuates the cover, causing the cover to be moved so that the slip can move axially downward from its unset position to its set position. As the cover is moved, the slip moves radially inward and grips the liner to secure the liner within the casing string of the wellbore.
